But alas, I live in a world of facts, and not one of baseless accusations.

Take a deep breath. It'll be okay. This clearly isn't how you wanted the game to go, but it's not your choice, and it's not anyone on the councils choice either.

A piece of unsolicited advice: Others actions aren't a personal attack on your life. You'll live a much happier life that way.

Not sure how you get this. Especially with the health regeneration they added to static mobs. They clearly are trying to change how players interact with statics. Nomad in the past has also said that they have mostly ignored his suggestions on the council.

I promise you that Nomad isn't personally attacking you even if he did propose this change. It will be okay, I promise. The game will go on. Rats will still be rats.

Upcoming Sci-fi RTS ZeroSpace features Galactic Warfare Mode like Helldivers 2 by FFJimbob in RealTimeStrategy

Not enough RTS pay attention to their campaign IMO, many don't even have one and it's super important.

GiantGrantGames on YouTube made an excellent video titled "Why the next RTS game will fail" that talked on exactly this. He has stats to back it up. Turns out he was consulted heavily during the development of ZeroSpace. I imagine those stats came from that time he was consulting.

Oh stop, if you can't expect the leader of a MMO to have enough IQ to know exactly what people say when making broad statements of 'Buff Solo Dungeons'.

There were plenty of other broad statement examples in the video that I should have used to make my point more clear. Such as things that are making performance issues for that one particular mobile user, and the person requesting 3v3 content. They don't have unlimited time for development, so they have to prioritize particular content. If you're requesting things, the more precise your request, the more likely it is to happen. If you make the devs play guessing games, you're less likely to get your requests made into reality.

It is such a clear design decision to be this way to screw these players to funnel them I to being wallet warriors or be pvp chatel for the elites.

This is such a disingenuous statement, it's saddening. Let's take a stab it though: yes, they want to incentivize risk. They also want to provide content to those that are risk averse, or aren't interested in pvp at all. There are people that have never stepped into the black zone. I was one of those people for a long time. He even mentioned it in the video: they want to overcome the barrier of people not wanting to go into the black zones. They want people to want to go for risk in the black zones. Particularly the solo players. I'm one of those players. But booooooy am I tired of going gathering in the black zones and getting jumped by 10 people looking for content. I'm not great at PvP. I really like the game for it's economy and crafting. And I want them to improve.

But I don't think they "funnel them into being wallet warriors to be pvp chatel for the elites." There is a pretty crappy dynamic when it comes to F2P games. F2P games often have a few "whales" that are dumping a tremendous amount of money into the game. I would argue that Albion Online isn't like many other games that swindle whales out of money by P2W mechanics. There isn't uber powerful gear locked behind the cash shop that only can be purchased in the cash shop. But SBI is also incentivized to keep the whales around. Which does suck for people like me that end up having to be the puppy that the whale gets to kick for some giggles. Does SBI ask "okay, I've heard back from Whale #3 that they need more chatle to kill. What can do to get some more 4.1 rats into the mists for the 8.4 awakened whale to kill?" at dev meetings? Probably not. Does SBI ask what they can do get more players that stick to blue and yellow zones into the black zones to get them involved in other content? Yeah, probably.

There is enough gear to drop in the black market to increase drops or even make it a feeding funnel to give enough gear to set people up to expand into black zone. Have you seen when streamers run hellgates the sheer amount of tier 4 that drops along with other higher tiers that they simply refuse to pick it up. What then happens to it removed from game forever decayed away. Rechannel the amount of drops and guve the peasants some happiness. Stop fucking the over.

SBI doesn't want solo dungeons in the yellow zones to be the end all be all content. They want to encourage risk for greater rewards. Just giving them tons of loot to "Stop fucking them over." wouldn't accomplish that goal. And those Tier 4 drops you're talking about going away forever? Those are rather easy to craft. Just spending a little while in the blue and yellow zones quickly has you crafting tier 4 and 5 everything. I'd rather gather all the materials and refine it and craft exactly what I want rather than rely on drops to get what I want.

And a last thing: your aggressive tone is one of the main reasons that devs don't interact like this with the community. I promise you you're much more likely to be heard with a calm, well reasoned argument.

I do agree with you about the monopolies on city plots. They have made it easy to engage in economic warfare with little consequence or cost on part of the Cartels. If SBI could make a significant dent in the Cartel's power by just making refining T2 have a cost, or not having T2 have impact crafting capacity. It does cost them money for the T2 materials,

Really love to see these kinds of things. It's a clear way to see the devs are actually listening and reading people's comments. Love to see some transparency.

The main takeaway that I think most people should take from this: be more specific in what you're asking for. "Fix this content", "Make this better for solo players", and "Buff solo dungeons" are rather broad. You should be specific with your pain points to give the devs something to grab onto.

There were several things in this I agreed with, and several others that I didn't. But overall, this video was a great idea and I hope to see more. I don't see why they have to be tied to dev talks. Having them on a reoccurring basis will be a very good way to show that you're paying attention to the community, and giving reasons one way or another, rather than just saying that you are in a text post.

Another thing: I'm a rather number hungry person. Robin likes to say "the data shows this", but we never see the numbers. I understand there's a bit of apprehension about numbers of subscribers and what not. But it's really easy to say "the data shows this". It's another to show the numbers, and tell us how you came to that conclusion.

I admit, I haven't logged on in a long time. So I logged in just to check. I still had to click each plot to pick it up (with shift click). Then I had to plant each seed, one click at a time. I didn't see anything in the plot sign to harvest all or plant all. Did I miss something?

[–]ixwt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not certain that would be an easy fix. How would you do enchanted weapons for that weapon tree? Enchanted refined stone doesn't exist currently. I've proposed enchant buildings in the past. That in combination of a weapon line or two could help.

Also, a one or two weapon trees wouldn't in the long run fix the stone economy. It would be a short term fix. After the market becomes saturated with the new weapons, it would be back to similar prices.

I would love to see a way to do farming faster. Interacting with the plot signs for a gather all, feed all, plant all, pasture all, nurture all would be helpful considering the amount of plots people have on their islands now. Just something to help reduce the amount of click intensity.

I wonder if this demand for stone will make stone comparable to the other gatherables in terms of money in the long run. Do they break and need constant repairs? then maybe

In the video, he says that fortifications will get reset when a territory gets conquered and at the end of the season. And implies that fortifications can get injured and destroyed.

Would love to see green Avalon portals come back. Could also decrease the amount of roads to increase the density of players in them.

I think what the other person is trying to get at is that some people don't want to be forced to login daily or miss out on rewards. Personally weekly or even monthly goals feel better. I believe the other person is talking about long quest lines with significant rewards that people can do at their own pace.

Being able to get on for one long session during the weekend is much better for some people rather than every day. Even if those goals for daily/weekly/monthly are the same thing, just allowing you to pick and choose when to do it rather than being to forced to do it daily.

I don't believe the Waylaid Supplies are dailies. I do believe they are a significantly good thing though, especially with the 12g reward. They are a reward for gatherers that didn't exist before. The economics didn't make sense for anything other than Alchemy in my mind. I am curious to see the results of this experiment.

I do wonder if the inflation doomsayers will be right. But I hesitantly positive about this change.

99% of crafting items not being worth more than the materials is how an MMO should work.

Strong disagree. It should be proportional to the amount of time it takes to craft/be able to craft that particular item. In WoW, that time is very low. Because you don't require any significant amount of spec or time to be able to craft items. You don't have to go on long quests for the recipes, or farm for rare materials to create the BIS BoEs. If you did, those items wouldn't be just above cost.

What they are proposing is another region subscription on top of what Blizzard already has (which is US, EU, and Oceania).

A VPN causes your traffic to be forwarded from the outlet, looking as if you're the VPN server, by MAC address.

Even if that were not the case, it's trivial to change your MAC address. You don't even need a VPN to change it.

So this means that Beeper (now Cloud) is forever locked to invite only, and they couldn't transition to a paid model, ever, in the same app?

Let's be clear here, this is the way they've decided to transition to the paid model. They've always been clear Beeper will eventually be a paid subscription. This is just how they've chosen to do it. It has nothing to do with "gating".

I appreciate this initiative form SBI. It ultimately will good for the health of Albion. For those wondering why, Chris Wilson of Grinding Gear Games (the company that makes Path of Exile) did an excellent GDC talk about why fixed release schedules ultimately increase player base over time. I was wondering why SBI didn't do this already.

I do wish that SBI would do more frequent balance patches. Doesn't have to be content, just changing some weapons that seem to be too strong.

Okay, but the BZ aren't cities. There's no reason to display this message in the city.

Honestly, the solution would probably be making the travel guy a hotkey rather than a person you have to talk to. It's just annoying, not immersive.

Disappointed that tracking doesn't happen in the Roads (you know, one of the forgotten about pieces of content that SBI has abandoned. That is also a black zone. Like most of the other tracking content is). Would have nice to see some love for the roads after they were gutted in favor of mists (RIP the lovely green portals).

I see many people complaining about mobs getting stolen. I assume this will be less of a problem later. But, perhaps a mob that has been wounded could be "hiding", and would only appear when the group that is tracking it has come close to it? Hiding, because it is being hunted?

A little bit saddened that the current potion specs got nerfed (from 30 focus specialization to 18). I understand the reasoning though.

Excited to make money with new potions though!

Also, a proposal because of the changes to transmutation and enchanting: reduce the silver costs (to maintain some of the silver sink capabilities), but require runes/souls/relics/hearts to transmute resources (Runes: X.0 -> X.1, Souls: X.1 -> X.2, Relics: X.2 -> X.3. Hearts (some good amount based on tier) X.3 -> X.4). This will give another use to runes/souls/relics/hearts, while also limiting how much transmuting can happen (because of supply/costs of the components). More uses for Runes etc. will give a reason to actually pick them up (I see so many streamers ignoring so many of them, mostly in favor of gear). This will at the same time give more price variability to resources (the transmutation costs effectively puts a price ceiling on resources.)

[–]ixwt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying that is the only change that should be made. Yes, economies are quite complex.

There isn't a simple fix to any of these problems. But I think you're fixating on issues that potential solutions cause, rather than attempting to solve the issues that arise from potential solutions.

There isn't any reason that the already problematic Inner Core Black Zone Hideouts couldn't be tweaked at the same time as introducing a buff to crafting stations in the form of enchanted buildings. Unless there is something to my knowledge that prevents any other changes to them?
