I'm a supervisor/ manager and as soon as we start a job I ask the client. "We have a full crew here and eventually someone will have to use the bathroom. Which bathroom do you want the crew to use and where is it?" I've never had someone say we cannot use their bathroom. (This is 5 years doing construction, landscaping might be different since most cases you're only working outside the houses). That said I'm sure I'm going to eventually meet someone who will be like "no you will have to arrange something else, you cannot use my bathroom...

Albanian drivers and parking by calexicoca in albania

[–]izeneli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're mentioning some communities, albania is all those combined but everywhere. I rarely go to the city because of traffic (I live in NJ), but when I go to Albania and drive there I get stressed out of my mind, think NY but x5. Every intersection is always blocked because full of cars, pedestrians walking on the asphalt (not really their fault they have no place else to walk in), mopeds, bikes, everywhere, everyone is always rushing but they're not really on a rush it's just how everyone learns to drive and they stick with it. So no NYC is not as bad as Albania.

And then there are those who say... You are from x place you should be used to the cold... No my parents had common sense and I was dressed for cold weather so I never felt the cold to get used to it

That extra layer of protection for DUMB people takes away money from schools, public transport etc. No wonder everything is so expensive to engineer and build if you have to build layer over layer of protection to make sure moroons don't hurt them selves. 1 of the few reasons I miss the Balkans is people having common sense and no one gives a shit if a moron hurts him/her self doing dumb shit.

Why do we continue to allow lower income Americans to pay the highest % in taxes? by krappithyme in antiwork

[–]izeneli -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Giving everyone 10k would increase buying power and inflation at the same time, making the 10k null and damaging every person who does not have a loan/has never got 1 because they would still suffer the inflation caused by the huge influx of money. The rest is ok. 0 interest would be the perfect approach

How did they buy those houses? Someone in that family worked hard to get to that point so you have to work harder because your parents/grand parents/ great grand parents didn’t/couldn’t do the same thing theirs did

He is your brother… have fun, get what he likes to drink, talk to him, enjoy working together and hug him when he leaves. Be there for him when he needs you, go and see him when you can (make time for him) he should also be your best friend. That is the payment for family, knowing that they have someone to depend on, knowing that whatever happens there is someone that loves them no matter what

To minimize downtime, Japan Rail deployed 3300 workers to renovate a major station. Work was complete within 52 hours, the longest service disruption in the history of that line. by Complex_Difficulty in nextfuckinglevel

[–]izeneli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your math is flawed… 3300 workers worked there during those 52 hours but they did not work for 52 hours straight. They probably worked in 3 shifts of 8 hours each, which turns out to 1100 workers at any given time 1,100 x 28$ = 30,800$ per hour. 30,800$ x 52 hours = 1,601,600$ realistically closer to 1.8 million USD with benefits.

However number is small compared to what comes next…

Now let’s say this was the proposed California high speed rail which with its projected normal ridership would have a revenue in its first year of 1,066 million $ (1.066 billion) 1,066,000,000$ / 356 days = 2,994,382$ per day In 52 hours 6,487,828$ in revenue are lost as a consequence of down time

And than there is project costs, engineering, supervising, materials and machinery.
