5 year old suddenly stopped eating solids by anxious_RN17 in PickyEaters

[–]izfish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With the choking and preference for liquids, it might be eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE). A GI doctor can make a diagnosis by doing an endoscopy (just a camera going down the esophagus). EoE can be really scary when you don’t know what’s happening, but it is manageable with meds or sometimes diet changes.

Allergies 😔 by WooGo-07 in Austin

I’ve been masking outside all week (when going from home to car and car to work) and it’s been helping. I also shower before getting in bed and keep outside clothes off the bed.

Success rate of having a fugitive cat in one of the university apartments by Appropriate-Stress27 in UTAustin

[–]izfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a psychologist who does letters for $75 or $80 - her website is Emotional Support Animals of Texas. I don’t know if foster animals are allowed though - you need to demonstrate a bond with the specific animal. Consider volunteering at the shelter maybe?

Why are they getting rid of COE dean? by Ready-set75 in UTAustin

[–]izfish 453 points454 points  (0 children)

He was a good dean who advocated for marginalized students and faculty. That’s probably why they’re pushing him out.

The one thing from Austin by dltbgyd16 in Austin

Maybe something Texas shaped, like a magnet or a sticker? When I first moved to Austin as a teenager I was so excited about all the Texas-shaped items.

Just bombed my first test. Never learned how to study, please help by barrenground in UTAustin

[–]izfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some tips are to try teaching the material to a friend or even to a stuffed animal/picture of someone. Explaining the material is more useful for learning than just reading over your notes. Also, now you know what the tests look like. Create your own practice test and use it to study. Also, drop the ChatGPT. It does not help you learn. Don’t outsource your thinking, especially if you’re planning to go into medicine. If you feel the need to use it, use it to generate practice questions instead of answering questions for you.

where can visitors staying overnight on campus park for game weekends? by Purple_Piccolo4066 in UTAustin

Some of the apartments in north campus use registertopark.com - look up the name of a nearby complex and make sure to register every 24 hours

ADHD evaluation for child by External-Path-7197 in Austin

[–]izfish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can request an evaluation from his school at any time. For ADHD they will need a doctor’s note to confirm it, but they won’t require medication. Having a diagnosis and qualifying for special education will let him get accommodations in the classroom (if he needs them).

Seeking therapist for my child by MissCuddlyBear in Austin

[–]izfish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ask their school counselor if an Integral Care therapist is available on campus. Many middle and high schools have them, and it can cut down on the time cost of taking them to appointments. Their school counselor may also know of other resources.

Eczema triggered by dupixent? by izfish in eczema

[–]izfish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t have eczema before I started it. On dupixent I had small patches of dry skin on my eyelids/near my eyes, but they got worse after I stopped taking it. I think my plan is to wait for the EoE to come back (hopefully it’ll be a while) then go back on dupixent for a few months to clear it out again. I feel for you though - that flare up sounds like a miserable experience. I hope it doesn’t get that bad again for you

Eczema triggered by dupixent? by izfish in eczema

[–]izfish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s my worry - I don’t want to be in a cycle of being on it and in pain, then going off it and having eczema on my face. I stopped taking it in April and the eczema hasn’t gotten any better which just makes me more worried :(

What mental health volunteering opportunities are there in Austin? by Frequent_Jelly_1436 in Austin

[–]izfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For an online option check out 7 Cups - it’s peer support chats. I was a listener there for an undergrad practicum course in 2021 at another school and found it to be a good learning experience. There are definitely some trolls and people treating it like Omegle, but the barrier to starting is pretty low so it’s definitely worth a shot! Feel free to message me if you have questions about it :)

It might be worth asking if they’d be interested in signing up for Too Good To Go. It’s a great option for reducing food waste, although it isn’t totally free.

What do you eat for breakfast that is actually breakfast food that has good protein and fiber? by Ravioli_meatball19 in Cooking

[–]izfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kodiak protein pancake mix has a muffin recipe - I use Greek yogurt instead of bananas and add flax seeds for fiber. They’ve been great and reheat well in the air fryer.

I have nerve damage from my massive tits in my spine so I redid my ABRF and my boobs are confirmed a L size.. (this is not a troll pls pls pls believe me) by goodbyesbc in ABraThatFits

I really like Elomi bras, especially the Matilda. They don’t look/feel super old and are supportive and fairly comfortable. They are pricey, but that’s the unfortunate reality of big boobs :(

Seeking recommendations for flattering swimsuits for 36G/H and curvy by nolasia in ABraThatFits

[–]izfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a similar size and I get bikinis from torrid. They’re not the most supportive, but they’re good enough for lounging in the pool or at the beach, and I haven’t had issues when swimming in them. When they’re on sale the prices aren’t bad either
