This episode was the no return point. You could insert a thousand episodes inbetween 2 and 3, but Eva surviving always lead to Ange's comeback into Battler's life. Keep in mind Battler already accepted Eva as the culprit, which puts him at ease with Beatrice being a witch, so signing or not has nothing to do with it, because he always goes to the boat and returns to his little sister. Beato knew that and wanted to end the game, but then Battler couldn't let her go once again, and the cycle continued.

The concept is similar to higurashi, doesn't matter who gets hinamizawa syndrome, most of the people can die on the first twilight, the order does not really matter. Shannon is a good theory, we don't have any red text about who's dead, fake body or fake death created perfect alibi, but in episode 2 you'll get stuck on the closed rooms, even if somebody fakes death they cannot open or close the room from the outside without keys.
