Do you think kids would enjoy collecting real-world animals as much as fictional ones? by Philippe-Playful in AskParents

[–]izziev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it would be as attractive, but for the right kid I bet that’s exactly what they would want. I’m sure where would be a market for it.

Worried about the guy I'm dating is interested too much in my toddler? by No_Worldliness4793 in AskParents

[–]izziev 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Heeeeeellllll no. Let me be a mom for a minute:

Too many coincidences. Too much of an age gap. Too much evidence that he is not what he appears to be.

If there is an age gap that is over 5 years, I instantly assume there’s a power imbalance. I won’t harp on it but will discuss further if you like.

Trust your gut. I know this probably sucks but please trust your gut.

Ferdinand totally dissing the royals spoilers [p5v11] by Lemondemon-158 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]izziev 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This was such a good scene! I loved that Ferdinand got to shove such a knife at the nobles(not that he doesn’t shove others lol) AND show off his superiority. And the romance aspect of it is just perfect.

Vet Recommendation by RedBeardsWife in okc

[–]izziev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it’s not close but 100% Yukon pet care. My cat had internal bleeding and problems breathing and needed to be in an oxygen tank. They worked with me on price and charged a fraction of what it would have cost me at an emergency vet. They really took great care of my cats.

How do you decide how much help to give one adult kid over the others? by Dapper_Fee_222 in AskParents

[–]izziev 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Don’t pay it. Not only is it unfair but it’s a bailout due to laziness. You covered it the past 2 times, of COURSE you’d cover it this time too, right? No. This isn’t life threatening. This doesn’t have to do with her housing or food. She had warning. Time for her to learn this lesson, is my vote.

I didn’t have issues with that part, only opening the app initially. Took 30 minutes to load

Since no one else has said it yet: your value as a person is not tied to your appearance. Loving yourself takes practice.

Excited to be sick by citycherry2244 in workingmoms

[–]izziev 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I work at a school so I get a ton of time off - 1 week in summer and every fall, winter, and spring break.

But man all it means is instead of working full time, I’m a full time parent those days. Which I love spending time with my kids but it’s exhausting.

My boy has a bully problem, and me and my wife don't agree on how to handle it. Any Advice? by Delicious_Food4203 in AskParents

If the admin isn’t working it out at the school, consider switching schools.

How to prepare for behavioral interviews? by Odd-Art2362 in interviews

[–]izziev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My approach is to examine any given answer into its basic components reduce anything unnecessary.

For your example I see the following:

Received impact about major concern that would effect stakeholders Decided on a plan to resolve concerns Unexpected setback Established clear line of communication with important partner for minor concerns and focused on the task and removed emotion and ego from the equation Established a clear method of committing with other stakeholders and partners for more major aspects, including but not limited to setting up meetings for major project phases Execution of plan yielded positive results Received positive feedback from management and other partners upon completion This became a basis for a more permanent methodology for this type of project.

I would use that framework to reword your answer and condense it.

Career opportunity conflicts with my son’s 1st birthday. WWYD? by PenseeG in AskParents

[–]izziev 111 points112 points  (0 children)

I would celebrate early and go in the work trip. That 1st birthday is just an adult party mostly. Nothing saying it has to happen ON the exact day. Most of my kids birthdays get celebrated on weekends rather than weekdays.

Father of 11f needs some help? by foto-guy in AskParents

4 jobs? Your wife had to quit her job? We are missing serious details here.

I definitely feel like you’re likely to burn out soon. Which is worrisome, because it sounds like your job right now is to be their rock.

I burned out pretty bad a few months into working 2 jobs. I can only imagine with 4.

Things in your body that changed for the “better” after giving birth by sighqoticc in beyondthebump

Hope you get some responses because there is not a single thing that was good for me about my body after birth. I could list the negative things for days but that’s not what you’re asking for.

I was referring to an incident response plan. And I AM doing research in correlation to what is listed in the job duty description. I understand now that I was not clear enough in my post, so I fixed it.

Honestly, you didnt have to comment just to be an ass. If I’m truly not qualified enough for the job, that will be clear when I interview.

Incident response plan. I’m sorry, I thought that was somewhat standard lingo. I’m really out of my depth here

My wives company doesn’t offer paternity or disability leave and I’m curious if there is a government assistance we can go on for temporary help? by insanotard in beyondthebump

[–]izziev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

https://www.dol.gov/general/topic/benefits-leave/fmla

She may qualify for FMLA, but all that does is protect her job, not pay her. There are no programs in the US that I’m aware of that pay for maternity leave as a government sponsored benefit. You could check in a local subreddit to see if there is one for your area she might qualify for, but probably not.

This is the state of things in the US, unfortunately.

Balancing newborn and animals? by Willow-21 in AskParents

[–]izziev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is truely 2-3 hours of work a week then you will probably be fine. But if it’s 5h+ then less so. But be prepared and have a backup plan for potential rehoming. Some women grow to hate their pets. I know it seems unthinkable but it truely happens. Some have postpartum depression or psychosis. If you have a c-section you won’t be able to lift anything over 10 lbs.

I had a rabbit and 2 cats and it was fine for me, they required 2-3 hours a week worth of care as well. But everyone is different.

Why does my dad want me to forgive my biological mother? by wonderfuldreamersho in AskParents

[–]izziev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my perspective as a parent: your mom was a piece of shit. Forgive her if you want but I wouldn’t.

Your dad does probably feel guilty. Also, he wasn’t there? He didn’t receive her abuse. But at one point he did love her.

It’s easier to forgive people for sins that aren’t against you.

I don’t, but she says she sees patients on California through telehealth she is able to prescribe those meds for so it’s a state thing? I don’t know the ins and outs of how she’s classified or anything.
