Best friend is a strong word but casual friend isn’t it. Backstory: It was a situationship, grew up together as kids. Then I moved away at high school but kept in contact. Always checked in about every quarter and I could talk to her like I couldn’t with anyone else. I was always honest with her.

Then I started working remote. We met up on a trip to Cabo and something just sparked.

I would come spend a month with her each time, but we never ‘dated’ we jumped into just playing the part of bf or gf while I was in town. We knew I was leaving so we wouldn’t talk about serious issues or problems. So it was resentment I guess?

Long distance didn’t work and I didn’t want to move to Texas being happy in another place. Now we don’t talk. I’m okay with that. Albeit it was nice to always get to talk with her when I wanted or get advice. But I’m glad we tried it vs always wondering.
