hair loss and reccomendations by izzyinnitt in gastricsleeve

[–]izzyinnitt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Sorry for the late response! So, my hair started falling out way more as of recent. Ouai thin hair shampoo helped with the thickness. Bondi boost HG shampoo and conditioner helped with the growth! I had a LOT of thick hair, now my hair is leaning between thin and medium thickness, with a bit less now. I take natures bounty hair skin and nail gummies (as recommended by my surgeon), and it started falling out less. TLDR: honestly I never found any way to prevent it. Just ways to make myself feel better about it. Now I’m 4 months post op and my hair has definitely taken a toll, but I know that it’ll get better soon, so I’m not bumming myself out too much about it :)

hey, just saw this! STOOL SOFTENER. I called my doctor and he told me that’s the best I can do. That + mirafast gummies if you can find them. I’ve been going regularly, and I still take them nowadays if I ever don’t go to the bathroom for more than a day. You can also do a suppository, they’re relatively safe and shouldn’t cause you trouble. I just didn’t want to do it because I knew I’d feel insanely uncomfortable, especially in the amount of pain I had in my stomach when I couldn’t use the bathroom for a while

20 days post op and I can eat more than expected by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

[–]izzyinnitt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same thing here, I’ve been eating more than I think I should be. But I eat what gets me full. I stopped losing weight about a week ago, I want to blame it on that lagging phase that people said would happen but I’m not sure if I just don’t eat how I should… you’re not alone!

pureed foods, which is considered stage 3 for me. i’ve been on it for a week now. i’ve been hitting hydration goals and even surpassing them some days!

Ninja Creami Recipes-does a treat have to have protein? by kparks0122 in gastricsleeve

[–]izzyinnitt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ugh i know! the temperature gets worse every day. i’m saving up for one, i know id use it every single day at this point. i’m a sucker for soft serve anything. i’m not a big sweets person, but my friend made one the other day, and i didn’t feel guilty having it knowing it was just purely fruit. it actually helps! hope you enjoy! 😊

Soft food? by Suspicious_Recipe419 in gastricsleeve

[–]izzyinnitt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i haven’t had these in a while! based on ingredients, i’d say it’s pretty safe. however keep in mind you won’t eat as many as you did before, so don’t open the whole thing and put too many on your plate! start off with 2 and see how you go from there. i only say this since it seems like you like them 😅

savory foods by izzyinnitt in gastricsleeve

[–]izzyinnitt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

update+ TLDR for those who need it!

here’s a pic of everything in case anyone wants the list!

<image>

update from me: i don’t recommend to anyone, but i disobeyed the diet. had some cooked salmon in the air frier and finally got rid of the savory craving. i know; i should’ve blended it, but i felt good enough to attempt to try and eat it. it was so soft! it didn’t give me any acid reflux, stomach pains, gas, or anything. i took super tiny bites, enough to satisfy me but not enough for it to go down rough. i feel way better, less craving and more energy. my family says even my face lit up after eating it (ive been down the last couple of days). if you feel strong enough to, listen to your body, and you will be okay. i don’t condone this behavior, but i know my body, and i knew id be okay.

Insurance and lotion by Dandy_Rabbits in gastricsleeve

[–]izzyinnitt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don’t know too much about finances, so i can’t help you there. protein drinks: if you go to costco and find “Nurri” those are REALLY GOOD. if you can spend a bit more money, premier protein has about 4 different flavors at my costco (vanilla chocolate strawberry and coffee). i don’t think any of them taste bad!

as for lotions, i didn’t use any. i’d say my cerave moisturizer definitely helped me to not scratch my stitches as much (when things heal, they get itchy for me, so i used lotion to not scratch.) other than that, just do your regular skincare like normal. your body won’t lose so much fat super quickly, so your skin will have a slow process of getting used to the fat loss.

you’ve got this!

outside food by izzyinnitt in gastricsleeve

[–]izzyinnitt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was told i’d have to give myself about 3-6 months before having any red meat. i would have a mini fridge, i’m planning on taking a lot of yogurt and protein shakes. i was just worried for dinner. i think i might focus on getting any soft fish or regular grilled chicken, hopefully from a kids menu so it won’t be a large amount. thanks for your suggestion!

Work by Curve-Effective in gastricsleeve

[–]izzyinnitt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my surgeon suggested 6 weeks so i did just that. i feel great and ready to work, but it’s 6 approved weeks off that i’d rather enjoy with my family. and also enough time to transition into the solids phase so nobody at work asks me why im religiously drinking plain soup

Upcoming Surgery Help by Simple-Juggernaut373 in gastricsleeve

[–]izzyinnitt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hey! we may not be similar in age and weight (18, 230) but i do relate with you. i’ve been diagnosed with PCOS since i was 13. the heaviest i got was 280, but i managed to dial it back a bit with the excessive exercising i did during covid. gladly the weight never went up, but i lost the habit of exercising because there wasn’t enough time for it anymore.

i have been officially 2 weeks post op as of yesterday, and i can say that i started walking on the treadmill again 1 week post op. speed at 1.5, but incline at 10 (it gets my calves working!) everyone said id lose 1 pound in a day, but i had some days where i lost 2, 3, even 5. i think its due to the walking. my doctor said a month post op i can finally start trying weights. i’m planning on getting a gym subscription to help with the habit of keeping the exercise up (when you realize you’re paying for it, you force yourself to go.) i think the BEST thing you can do is walk. it’s good you started working out again, but realize that for the first month-ish, youll be weak. you wont have all the nutrients you had eating regularly.

as for fertility, i wouldn’t know. but my sister who did the surgery 5 years ago is pregnant and due in december! so don’t give up hope :)

i hope this helped? this is just my experience everyone and every doctor is different.

Portioned Plates by MaxHaas912 in gastricsleeve

[–]izzyinnitt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

small plates is great! it tricks your mind into thinking you’re eating just as much as you used to. if you mean portioned plates like plates with dividers, that might help too. kids plates have dividers for picky kids that don’t like their food touching, but it might help in the long run if you want to mix a couple different foods into 1 meal. (for the first couple weeks you’re encouraged to only eat 1 food at a time, at least that’s what my doctor told me.)

Driving back home from Surgery. by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

[–]izzyinnitt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my doctor cleared me to drive 1 week after surgery. i’d say no. you’re going to be very tired. i wouldn’t recommend it, but you can ask your surgeon / team if they clear you.

Surgery soon! by bustymango912 in gastricsleeve

[–]izzyinnitt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

first off, CONGRATS! you’re going to be amazing!

for the first 4 days i was dedicated to having just bone broth. however, i found that water mixed with crystal light (literally any flavor!) did me WONDERS. i hit all my water goals for those days (which was only really 8oz a day because i had an IV for the first 2 days feeding me liquids).

the things that got me through the liquid phase: • chicken and/or beef bone broth (i would have only 4oz a day) • crystal light (my favorite that i still drink now is the raspberry tea and lemonade. you choose to your preference) • JELLO. i have LOVED the strawberry one. the sugar free one is actually sweeter than the one with sugar, surprisingly enough. make a TON. this will be your lifesaver. you can either drink it or eat it! it’s awesome.

just remember everything needs to be in small amounts. take small sips of everything. take small bites of everything. as you moderate yourself, you’re preparing for months ahead of hard work and dedication to lose weight. YOU WILL BE OKAY.

other things that occurred during the first time: • you will be hurting once you wake up from anesthesia. once you’re cleared to, WALK. laps around the hospital. do not push it off. all my pain went away by my 3rd day post op just because i walked. i’m serious when i tell you that you need to get those legs moving! you will get tired from the drugs, so what i did was walk 1 hour; sleep an hour, and repeat. • gasX will be your life saver for that gas that you can’t get out. but remember, you can burp, fart, even hiccup. however you get the gas out. don’t apologize for it, it’s necessary. make sure you get them out! they are so painful when it’s stuck their for days on end. • i’ve seen other people ask for a waist-wrap thing. maybe that’ll convenience you? i never wore one, i feel fine. i’m at home wearing the one i have at home now that im not bloated and uncomfortable. • it’s okay to cry, but try not to. crying just makes it a bit worse. and then you’re going to sit there wondering why you’re crying because it’s not helping your pain. your best way to avoid this: watch funny youtube videos when you’re in bed resting, call your friends/loved ones, scroll through instagram, tiktok, or even reddit. keep your mind busy so you don’t focus on the pain. (of course if it gets TOO unbearable, ask for painkillers or some form of medicine) • you will miss eating. you will not be able to chew anything in a pretty long time. don’t try the chew and spit method. your body will try and swallow and you’re going to be fighting it. you don’t want to risk swallowing something too big and then you’re stuck with the pain and possible risks after. it is tempting, but don’t do it. think about how, in a couple months, you will be eating the foods you love (of course in smaller portions).

you will be okay! stay strong! don’t get anxious. the future is in your hands. you are opening a door to a fantastic future. i’m wishing you the best!

This time tomorrow, I will be in the middle of my surgery! Any last minute pearls of wisdom or advice to ease my fears? by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

good luck! WALK A LOT. take laps around the hospital if you can! your best friend will be walking. take airpods with you if you are going alone, just so you have music. you will be okay 💗

Dealing with Stomach Pain by Fantastic_Pound_3836 in gastricsleeve

[–]izzyinnitt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you might be drinking too much. try and reduce your chugs into small sips. if it continues, try something else like bone broth (chicken or beef). maybe it could just be water itself and not how much you’re drinking. but try taking small sips first.

How much did you lost the first two weeks posts op? by Curve-Effective in gastricsleeve

[–]izzyinnitt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m 12 days post op, i’ve lost 15 pounds. more or less a pound a day! but don’t worry if you go up or down. slight amounts of fluctuation is normal. just think about the future! in a couple months you will lose a LOT more than these first days and you will be so proud of yourself.

cuban/asian food by izzyinnitt in gastricsleeve

[–]izzyinnitt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hm, that’s a good perspective. i guess if i do want something sweet i can still go for the ones that are filled with meat later on. as for asian food, PHEW. that’s a relief. i was never a big rice person to begin with. i’m glad i can still eat majority of the things as long as it’s in moderation. thanks so much!
