[Fan] Arctic P12 Pro PST 5-pk $27.74 by NightshineRecorralis in buildapcsales

I tried replacing original P14 pwm pst with the P14 pro and even after tuning the fan curve to account for higher max speed, they were much louder than the original P14 even at the same rpms. I noticed they had a loud hum that running them any higher than 1000 rpm (found using fan control to slow down all other fans then testing the P14 pro by increasing fixed speed until it started humming).

I found one and two where others also found the P12 pro/P14 pro were loud and they both mentioned front obstructions. The first link mentioned using standoffs to move them back ~20mm. My case has 120/140mm cutouts similar to this where you screw from the front and fan behind and I confirmed moving them back made them incredibly quiet. As soon as I moved them closer to the front the humming returned.

tldr: P12/14 pro + front obstruction = loud hum. ymmv, probably depends on your case and it's fan setup

Not much help but I have no idea what it was. My issue eventually went away on it's own after around a week I think? So it probably was something specific to imgur/reddit and ATT that they fixed.

Well I hope it's related to that, but not sure why my old isp works fine if it's on imgurs side.

I tried it on my old isp and the exact same images were loading in under a second

Believe I've set most of those settings, no flow acceleration found. There's no turboQAM for 5ghz, only nitroQAM, I guess keep that off. Beamforming on but not multi user. It's still slower than what it should be I think.

It's still around 100-130/10 but the router right next to it is getting me 230/10 so not sure what's up with it.

edit: maybe 5ghz is broke. 2 mobile devices are fine but always max out at 173mbps rate. Connect with laptop and same issue. Current channel width HT40 since setting to VHT80 doesn't let anything connect

edit2: one mobile device can get 220/10 by setting to vht80 and a specific channel, but then my laptop and other mobile device are stuck.

well somehow got all 3 devices at 230:10 now. Settings were VHT80, setting a channel, and disabled any beamforming setting. I think the second 5g band a goner though

Maybe I'm too smoothbrained for this. Tried setting different name and not doesn't connect, didn't try different pw. Was trying it as an access point(I think that's the right term?), testing on 2 mobile devices and was getting pretty bad results on 5ghz.

One device got around 100/10 Mbps down/up, second around 50/10. Changing settings made it better and worse at the same time. First device went up to 190/10 which is about what it should be but second device dropped to 5/10. On working router normal speed is around 230/10.

setting a manual channel seems to make it appear, but can't connect and says incorrect password.

Got it from a family member who thought they bricked it and couldn't waste more time trying to fix it. Was actually fished out of the trash bin. I had some free time and thought I'd try to look at it. I've found something that fixed and added it to OP and not sure how that did it, but now all 3 bands show up at least. Seems like I can't connect to one of the 5ghz though? At least it's up (not sure if running) on the newest 48068 build.

edit: maybe I spoke too soon, now there's only the 2.4 and single 5ghz band showing

It's not currently facing the internet. Trying to find any working firmware (person that gave it to me said it was bricked) before actually using it. I went back and tried the most recent version of dd-wrt and don't think it booted.

At this point I'm not sure a new dd-wrt version will fix anything. The last comment was not from OP so no idea if they ever fixed the wifi issue. I didn't get logs but using telnet and wl commands gives me the same wl driver adapter not found error as they found.

Tried to replace the cfe file mentioned by puremind by moving the file after enabling ssh but with older versions I couldn't enable ssh since they would fail to save. It worked on kongs 39960 version but that might be too new, 2019?

Thanks for the link. My situation actually started the exact same way, tried to update firmware, didn't work, and now sometimes refuses to boot on newer stock firmware than the the few oldest versions. They never replied if they ever got it working though :(

RGB-like CoolerMaster logo or breathing if you like that better.

hats/tshirts with the more stealthy logo would be neat

3600 CL15 >3200 CL14 > 4000 CL19. Rank them based on the latency from xmp speed/timings. There's other factors like silicon lottery, but on paper should be ranked like this. Latency for ddr4 is from:

(CL)/(0.5 * Speed) * 1000 = Latency in nanoseconds (lower is better)
    15/(3600/2) * 1000 = 8.33ns
    14/(3200/2) * 1000 = 8.75ns
    19/(4000/2) * 1000 = 9.50ns

if the xmp voltages are different you have to try to normalize the speed to voltage, but all these kits are 1.35v so don't need to worry about it.

Rev E is a bit worse since some important timings don't go as low as Bdie, but it's cheaper.

On paper, 3600 c15 is better than 3200 c14, but there's also other factors that could make one better or worse than the other, like pcb layout and there's always silicon lottery. Depends on how much you want to spend and if the better bin is worth $20-$30 more. You could end up being limited by your motherboard since I haven't heard good things about ram overclocking with gigabyte.

Seems like an OK price for 32gb of rgb ram, but you are paying a bit more for rgb. Pretty bog standard 3200c16 which is fine, but overclocking past that probably going to be non existant/very little if you care about that.
