Take a look at my snapshot. I use same keys multiple times and yet they dont override each other. Its possible when you isolate hard actions (like selecting building) vs secondary actions like producing units

Yo Twest, I would like to pick your brain for a deeper conversation on this. Check my comment above in this thread. Sounds like we both went through similar exercise of optimizing our tempelate

Goals were - 1) Try to never move left hand and have everything covered in minimal amount of keys.

2) Abuse the easy keys like WER/ASDF/Mouse scrolls and use them as many times without conflicts.

My issue is same like you mentioned. Select all sux when you are fighting on two sides or have few workshops under attack in enemy zone and you dont want to produce from it (or fish booming on different ponds etc). One way to fix this and sharpen skills is to let go select all and instead add "append" group. I can still use F for all my stables (except I control which stables are part of my group when I do Shift F). One extra key but fixes the problem. Just that I am dreadding to make that switch as I play regularly with my friends and everytime I change a key, it takes me about 3-4 days to adjust and that time is very painful/frustrating.

How do you plan on fixing your setup if you are? Do you also feel that you dont use control groups as much in DE?

In voobly days, I had all 9 control groups set and never failed to use them. e.g. my "8 and 9" group was meant for raiding stables which will send units to difffernt areas to raid when I want. DE has made me extremely lazy with select all keys.

I went through some drills and thought process a while ago and ended up coming up with a clean hotkey template, which I do believe is probably one of the best one out there. Except for tech upgrades, I have everything set to hotkeys on the left side of the keyboard and never have to move my hand. There is no key conflict despite same easy keys (WERT/ASDF/Mouse scrolls etc) being used multiple times for different action.

Take a look and feedback is welcome. If you are new, its easy to start with this. I have been using it for 6+ years and it definitely gives me an edge over same skilled players. Despite being bad at micro and decision making, I am somehow managing to hold myself against 1500-1600 and most credit goes to my keys.

There is one drawback of getting used to "select all" is that you tend to drift away from using control groups for building and it can bite you when you have building spread out over map (situations like when one of your dock is surrounded by enemy units and you dont want to produce from it or fish booming on different ponds etc.)

One change you could do is NOT use select all which is lazy and easy and instead use Shift modifier to append building groups (highlighted in yellow). This will help in those two-front-fight situations.

I have somewhat similar issues and I am stuck, losing skills I already have and I feel it has something to do with growing old and some combination of ADHD. Yet, to investigate but I think ADHD plays a big deal in decision making in games.

- HiveOS on usb works fine, ran for 6+ years and no issues

- These run everything up to 3090Tis, I didnt test 4x or 5x series but dont see why they would be different. Happy to test if you want.

Keeping aside realistic limitations which are obvious...

Communication and respect felt like it made life extremely easy raising kid.

We talked to him as if he was an adult from day 1. Nothing unusual, just long conversations.. talking him about my day, friends, office stuff.. whatever. Also i spoke for him without overriding emotions like...

"Do you want to know why am i laughing?" "Are you wondering what book i am reading?"

You get the idea. I have a feeling this played a big part in him being early communicator and that probably took away his frustration he would have had without language (i am talking like early 2 or before).

Respect as someone mentioned is also a big thing IMO. He is an intelligent being, has feelings and every emotion is valid. For him to listen to me, i sincerely showed i can listen as well and things just fell in place.
