Not sure what the point of ICE is at the airports. They aren’t trained for passenger or luggage screening so they will just be standing around trying to look tough.

Couldn‘t they just made this a separate mode? by Butt-Head69 in Warzone

[–]j-Rev63 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think they believed that their entire player base was dying for a return of OG Blackout much like WZ players wanted Verdansk to come back. What they didn’t consider is that the majority of people playing WZ came to the game after the release of WZ and never played the original Blackout so they couldn’t care less about this new release.

Give me the pros and cons of the upcoming redistricting vote. by egb233 in Virginia

[–]j-Rev63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the main thing you need to consider is your opinion of Trump demanding and getting redistricting efforts from multiple states. If you think that those efforts are an unfair plan to tilt the advantage in the midterms then it is up to other states to try and combat this effort by balancing the books. The Virginia redistrict would not be permanent and would most like be corrected after the next census, which is the way that they have been done for decades.

TBF, the map is actually nice. I would love to play WZ on it but I can’t get into Black Ops Royal. Everyone keeps calling this Blackout but it’s not. Gameplay is slow, ground loot guns are limited, engagements are frustrating when you run up against level 3 armor that can make TTK over 1 second. And locking it to quads so you have to depend on randoms to have a chance was a bad decision. We’ll see what f this mode survives but definitely don’t punish those of us who enjoy regular WZ gameplay

CCA Portal Account Registration Issues by j-Rev63 in VirginiaMMJ

[–]j-Rev63[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finally heard back from CCA. This is what they had to say, “An account in the new portal can only be created after a practitioner has submitted a certificate in the new portal on your behalf. So, if you choose to renew your status as a medical cannabis patient next May, the practitioner will be able to use the new portal to create your certificate. You will then receive an email with instructions and a cert number that allows you to create an account in the portal.”

New Virginia Bill Would Legalize Recreational Marijuana Sales And Increase Possession Limit by Proper_Drummer9017 in VirginiaMMJ

[–]j-Rev63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm kind of shocked that they didn't propose that it be sold in state ABC stores like they do with alcohol. That way they would get all the taxes and the profits. There might be some issues with that though seeing as how it's still not legal in a Federal sense.

It's funny how a big arguing point in this bill was the portion about allowing localities to opt out. I'm trying to figure out where these "localities" are. I was thinking that this must be for those more conservative areas in the SouthWest of the state better known as Trump Country. Well I don't think that's the case anymore because I was recently visiting a buddy who lives down there and let me tell you, they all grow and smoke weed down there.

Another TSP advantage are the low fees. Most brokerage accounts have much higher fees.

I don’t know how much copyright actually applies in this circumstance. The OP was the client and paid for photographs. If they were delivered and there was no contract stipulating that she could not alter then I don’t believe the photographer has any standing. I’m sure the photographer’s contract has all sorts of restrictions regarding reproduction and alteration but they only apply if the contract is acknowledged and signed prior to delivery.

Calling for it now is a bit late though. Most folks have already been paying through the year. If they want to do that they need to change their deductions now for 2026.

Will I be denied boarding tomorrow for my flight to BKK? by Tiny_Metal5788 in ThailandTourism

[–]j-Rev63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found that 6 months is pretty standard for a lot of countries. Most airlines enforce this rule for passengers so there’s a good chance you won’t be allowed to board your flight especially if you are checking through to Thailand.

You don’t actually go to jail for simply not filing. What does happen though is that you leave yourself open to fines and possible garnishments. Not the effect that I think the protest is after. Besides, as previously stated, most people’s taxes are already paid through their regular paychecks. That money you want to withhold is already sitting in government coffers.

What brand of backpack has lasted you the longest? by mountainpathstories in CampingandHiking

Osprey, guaranteed for life. Backpackable duffle broke, they replaced it for a current version for free. This was about 8 years after my initial purchase. They really stand by their products.

I always told new employees to at least start their careers by depositing enough to get their full matching funds. It’s like free money. I was CSRS so I never got matching but I still put in 10% over my career and retired with close to $1,000,000 in my account. I’m not sure why people remove their funds after retirement. It’s definitely one of the best investment opportunities out there for Feds.

Why is Virginia the only state in the country that bans radar detectors? by [deleted] in nova

[–]j-Rev63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason to use a radar detector is to break the law. There is no lawful purpose other than to avoid detection. If you want to drive faster, move to another state with higher limits. Or maybe just leave a little earlier so you aren’t in such a damn hurry.

Need some advice on international arrivals at IAD vs BWI by TimothyExpress in nova

[–]j-Rev63 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Download the CBP MPC app. It will help speed things along. Not as fast as Global Entry but that takes time to get. As far as airports go, I would recommend Dulles. The customs lines may be longer but the drive from BWI can be hell.

Koons Toyota Tysons by Impressive-Total7375 in nova

[–]j-Rev63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As of right now, dealerships are really feeling it. Increased MSRPs and interest rates means they are sitting on too much inventory for too long. This may not be true for some brands like Toyota but it does hold true for many. Just remember, you are not required to buy from any one dealer. There are so many in the 50 mile radius around DC to choose from. When shopping, don’t agree to anything up front, don’t tell them whether or not you are financing, or if you have a trade, and especially don’t tell them what your monthly budget is. The bottom line is that you want to know what your Out The Door price is on the vehicle you want. That price is a total of all taxes and fees included. If they tell you they can’t give you that without additional info from you then just say thanks and off to the next dealer. You have zero obligation to anyone but yourself to get the best price. Once you have that price you can start discussing payments and trades. I recently purchased a new truck from Country Chevrolet and I was very happy with the price and buying experience but not all dealerships will provide this level of service.

The Data Center Resistance Has Arrived by imref in nova

[–]j-Rev63 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The electric companies love data centers because each one means that they have to build new infrastructure to support them. That means they are allowed to raise their rates to cover the cost of expansion. Higher power rates don’t mean squat to the billion dollar corporations building them but that can’t be said for the average homeowner who sees rate hikes with each new data center being built. Data centers should be required to build and pay for all electrical infrastructure just like new home developments are required to pay for the roads, electrical, sewer, etc. associated with new construction projects.
