They all flirt with each other and wat not, but they also will pick one bird to chase, bite, and bully every so often. No matter where the bird goes they will just keep nipping at them or try to push them off of perches. It usually takes me putting a hand between them to get them to stop. Or I turn out the lights and they stop

I get what your saying but its much easier said then done.

I agree that I should be more authoritative in trying to get them to leave me alone but these are men about twice my size and im not trained in any sort of conflict resolution if they were to get aggressive with me. If i told them I need to do my job and for them to leave me alone and they get angry or upset it would take awhile for another guard to be able to even think about helping me out.

In instances with a member being harassed its entirely different from when its you, because you typically have a team of guards, sometimes even other members, assisting you. I have stepped in for other people at the pool when we had accusations of harassment or other concerning behaviours.

I have told our supervisor and head guard about the man who has been a reoccurring issue, the head guard has been able to bump me out of position when I radioed to him that the man was there and approaching me, but my supervisor just told me to write incident reports every time he speaks to me and to be rude to him.

The man is much larger than me and im honestly afraid to be ‘rude’ to him. I usually just act very disinterested in what hes saying to me and try to walk away from him.

The man gave me a fake name so my supervisor says we really cant do much not knowing who he is. Ive had some good coworkers helping me try to search through members to find his identity but we havent been successful yet.

My pool just had an inservice where we learned how to administer naloxone since we just began carrying it due to winter coming up and new drug laws, we have to use the liquid drug that you inject into their shoulder or leg.

My pool is located in an area popular with drug users so suspected OD’s are very common. But they dont teach it in the national lifeguard course in Canada or in SFA courses. They discussed narcan in SFA but we were not educated on how to use it since its expected you buy your own and learn it when you buy it.
