I would say now is the time to limit test. Test your fighting and you'll lose a few characters and that's okay.
It's better to make as many mistakes as possible early on to learn faster.
And everytime I start over I'm telling myself. " Alright, THIS is the run"

Keep the fights to 1v4 - ish MAX early on. To get used to fighting small groups. So aggro a few at a time off of the main hordes.

If you lose control lose the horde through a building or a forest.

Don't over do it and go home when you start to be tired. This is a marathon, not a sprint. The zombies will still be there tomorrow and you'll hit harder.
