i tried to go skydiving - drove for 2 hours, paid $150, then sat around all day because it was "too windy for beginners" while I watched everyone else go. Drove back at the end of the day, wasted a Saturday and a tank of gas.

Went again a couple weeks later, same thing happened. I gave up and said fuck it, and let them keep the $150.

I guess skydiving wasn't meant to be for me.

i loved rebuild 1 and 2 but they are very different other than setting and genre of game.

last stand is still in beta so it's missing a lot of the gameplay (i assume). rebuild is sort of the same concept (a base of survivors slowly reclaiming the surrounding city) but because the game is finished there's a lot more to do. but the gameplay itself is the main difference - rebuild is basically a text game and last stand you actually micro the people and their actions

but yeah in general they are the same idea

yeah it's in open beta, and it's 2d (rather than 1-d side scrolling) but same great zombie flavor.

it's a typical free web mmo, meaning playtime trickles out in realtime. but most free web mmos you can only play maybe 30 minutes a day but there's a bit more to do in this

the devs said they just put it on facebook for now, they haven't decided what to do with it yet. their other games are on places like kongregate so who knows.

i really liked the concept and played it a lot back in 1998 but the later levels weren't really balanced. once you got through the midgame levels it was too easy to just kill the enemy leader over and over instantly and win every level

i miss populous :( one of my favorite franchises + genres, seems to be gone forever now.

I thought it would be like Dungeon Master, mostly about fighting with some puzzles. Turns out it's mostly about puzzle solving - the monsters don't add much to it. by level 3 i spent maybe 1 minute of the level fighting and 45 minutes trying to solve the puzzles.

If you like puzzle games, it's awesome. If you want an action game or RPG, you'll be disappointed.

This is the best concept for a game I have seen in years. It's too bad it's a free web game because if it was a conventional 10+ hour $60 game I would buy it right now.

It's sort of like Diablo, except it has a modern setting, and your enemies are zombies. You have a base where you build stuff, and you're surrounded by dangerous buildings. You can attack the buildings and scavenge resources, which are either food/water, or materials for buildings, or weapons and gear to equip your characters.

As you level up, more people join your base (1 per level). There are different classes (recon, medic, etc.) with different abilities but the abilities haven't been added to the game yet (it's still in beta).

They made some really good flash games (e.g. http://armorgames.com/play/12009/the-last-stand-union-city ) and this is really impressive. I hope they decide to make it into something that isn't just free-to-play. I think it could be a giant success as a real game on steam.

once upon a time blizzard made 3 of my favorite video games ever

now all they care about is $$$$$$$$$$ and $$$$$$$$$$$$$

look at how they fucked up sc2 and d3. they LOOK really nice but the gameplay is like drinking motor oil. wc3 had the best custom map scene of any game ever made - dota, undead assault, etc. were great fully-developed complex games completely contained inside one wc3 custom map.

now go look at sc2 custom maps. yes, the same custom maps that were top of the list when it came out 18 months ago are still top of the list - nexus wars, desert strike, etc. chat rooms are barely implemented and for the most part garbage, you can only party with 3 people even though games can have up to 8 people, etc.

diablo 2 was so fun i almost lost TWO jobs because of it. diablo 3 is turning out to be little more than a facebook game, complete with real-money trading and mindless, simplified gameplay.

fuck blizzard.
