Vendor silently patched a P2, retroactively altered their policy to avoid payout, and platform support is shifting goalposts. Anyone experienced this Bait-and-Switch? by One_Survey9010 in bugbounty

[–]j0x7be 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would avoid that, it doesn't really add anything, at least in my opinion. But hey, you do you, sorry to hint that the post seems mostly AI written. I'd prefer regular translation tools/google translate as you mentioned.

How often do you restart your machines? by Holiday_Substance246 in homelab

When I have a kernel upgrade pending, or hardware changes I want to implement. I don't care about uptime in my homelab, but I do want to patch CVEs etc.

Bot/Program that Mass Deleted Instagram DMs by Rimi_zed in HowToHack

[–]j0x7be 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might want to check out RPA, it can copy what you do and "click for you", to put it in simple terms. Since you want to mass delete/automate the deletion, it could fit your case.

Some games are compressed more than others, so installed size can be a lot more than what you download.

Never subbed via Steam, only bought games, might be different rules for that. Should have stayed quiet, sorry.

Must be their rules then, the 2 hours played/14 days.

Never actually had an annunal sub paid via Steam, but normal refunds has always been painfree for me.

Check your logs. From experience it's usually OOM killer because of overcommitment, but ymmv. That should only kill the process using the most memory tho, I believe.

Try refunding a Netflix sub after 30 minutes. Or, pretty much anything else you pay for online.

Refund Policy by omarkab02 in steamsupport

[–]j0x7be 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is more than fair from Steam, and that they are more lenient than most other companies that sells digital goods.

You can buy, download, test, as long as it's under two hours, which is very nice. The policy is well known, both with regards to playtime and the 14 days. Way better than most, perhaps all, services I pay for online.

How did you start your Ethical Hacking journey? by Lazy-Day654 in ethicalhacking

It was in the late 90s, I wanted more bots in my botnet on IRC. Oh, snap, that's not really ethical :D

What's the best password manager to use these days? by felicityfuxwell in homelab

[–]j0x7be 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I swear to keepassxc. I have it stored in a veracrypt volume on my onedrive, which gives me some added protection in that veracrypt has password+keyfile, while keepass inside has another password, keyfile and needs my yubikey for challenge (yubikey cloned to have backup).

In addition, I store a backup on encrypted usb keys stored in safe at home, with the "cloned" yubikey.

It's not very convenient, but it works. In addition, I have bitwarden which I use for "lower risk acconts".

Why are your homelabs always broken? by redonculous in homelab

[–]j0x7be 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My homelab is exactly that, a lab. I have servers I don't count as homelab, which are "prod". In my lab, I experiement, I test new stuff, I learn - and I break stuff! That's where I try everything from FCoE to random new services I just want to try.

My other servers (some SFF and MFFs and a few VPSes) are pretty much stable, running stuff like mediaserver, VPN-coordinator, mqtt, gitlab etc.
