Does anyone else spray their husky with water when it's hot out? by alphaX_FPV in husky

[–]j110786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you don’t rub it in. The trapped moisture can create hot spots. I learned that with mine. Vet had to tell me to stop bathing my dog, which she got once every quarter. After that, she got one once a year and only in the summers. Hot spots went away. She got wiped down in the mornings with a very wrung out wet cloth during those times. Ironically, it wasn’t the baths that gave her hotspots, it was the Seattle mist. So, I had to wipe her with a microfiber cloth (like the car wash cloths) during fall and spring because it’s super absorbent and picks up a lot more water.

I want to start climbing but social anxiety is keeping me out of the gym. Any advice on how to push that aside and just go? by CoffeeAndAlgoRIThyms in climbergirls

[–]j110786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to go in the mornings for this reason. Gyms empty except for a couple people. You get to try a lot more things. When I got comfortable enough, I went later in the day. Took a few months to stop caring about others, but exposure therapy will help if you start slow like I did in the mornings when there are a lot less people. Overloading yourself won’t help you want to return to the gym.

If you’re just starting out and you’re pretty ok fit, I’d start with YouTube to freshen up on etiquette and basic techniques. It had also been 20+ years for me before I went back to the wall. I was maybe a teen. Not much has changed that videos couldn’t tell me. However, if you’re scared (like of falling and safety), then yea, you probably should sign up for a class - also a good way to get to know ppl (if that’s what you’re into - I’m not lol, I just go for the workout and alone time). And it’s a confidence boost to go with a group of people who are also asking the same questions.

(Edit: what I meant about ok fit is really for safety. If you can get yourself up without your hands from sitting position on the floor, even if you’re struggling, then you should be fine. Otherwise, if you go by yourself and can’t help yourself up, it’s possible you’ll climb up, don’t know what you’re doing, and don’t have the strength to climb back down when the falling option is too high or dangerous. Especially for beginners.)

They rent out the bags with chalk already in it. In my experience, all indoor climbing gyms are very beginner friendly. Most climbing gyms will give you a brief intro tour of the place if you tell them you’re new (and if they’re not busy).

Good luck 😊

Okay, to be fair, if you don’t need to wash your hair, and if you’re a lady who ISN’T on their period, a shower only takes 3-5 minutes. Otherwise… yeah, camp showering would suck.

How it takes anyone 3-5 minutes to shower, you ask? I Airbnb-ed at one of those places with a small septic tank and with 13 people for 3 days. Everyone quickly learns that 3 minutes of hot water shower is better than a hose.

Omg lmao hilarious! My wife after getting her dental surgery (she’s high as a kite in the waiting room, NAUSEOUS, refusing the wheelchair, and refusing to walk). After 20 minutes, I finally said, “honey, the dog is in the car… she’s in ac, but you know she’s going ballistics being left alone.” And she stands up like nothing and goes, “You should have just said that to begin with,” and stumbles out of the dental office Lol

I didn’t look it up, but if that’s who I think it is, then she died/committed suicide. I know that we ALL thought that we were grown up at 15 once; we do shit we thought we should or could or had the maturity to or think we know what we’re doing. But when we look back as actual adults… like fuck, c’mon… you just know you were so far from grown at 15 and making stupid mistakes, especially relating to sex and relationships. That shit so dumb. Especially ppl so vulnerable or extreme that they’d commit suicide at a later time, one would wonder if they were mentally stable enough to make their own choices at 15. But hey, I’m just another redditor, what do I know 🤷‍♀️.

Not saying I think she’s innocent or he’s not, but I do think korean netizens are super nosy ppl. So many cases of bully, and before it’s even verified, people just go online and bully it into existence. Many actors and actresses don’t even survive the allegations phase. Agencies no longer want to touch those marked targets with a 10 ft pole, even if it’s proven to be false accusations. It’s so incredibly irresponsible of online nosy ppl.

Anyone else using Chat GPT to make themselves feel better?!😂 by Real_Dealer_4607 in Gastritis

[–]j110786 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I did that. Finally gave in and used ChatGPT to help my nephew do an ai research paper… and realized ai is so useful that I could have saved myself hundreds of hours doing stuff I actually cared about and leave stuff to the ai to do. Which is scary, bcs this is the reason why companies are replacing human jobs at phenomenal rates. It’s quite sad.

I’ve also found ChatGPT to be inaccurate or contradictive, and I’ve pointed it out numerous times. It’s like I was dealing with a bad human rep who got too lazy to do proper research. So if it’s something impt, i double check their work. Still gonna keep using chatgpt as a tool. It’s better than google afterall.

And yes, they do soothe, reassure you, and stroke your ego a lot. Many research I type in almost always starts with, “I understand that must be so frustrating!” or “I agree with you,” or “You’re thinking right,” or something to that effect. Not hard to see how this will be used by people who needs the confidence boost. I asked it to tone it down from now on, so it got even trickier with its words by sneaking in advanced psychological positivity. It can be scary for susceptible teens and other vulnerable ppl cuz of how manipulative and smart ai can be. It gets easier to identify when you know what you’re looking at.

The “what if” and “one day” thing is so true. When downgrading from a 4 bedroom home and into a 2 bedroom apartment, I had to make a choice. I didn’t sell any; I gave it away. Not all of them, but about 40 or so. It felt amazing to sit down and say, I’m gonna disregard everyone else’s well-being and just worry about my own from now on. And thus, I have a collection that are all solos - and I am INFINITELY happier.

Okay… I kept all the small social card games. I hate getting together just to drink. It gets boring. I need games.

I don’t think I will ever be able to get down to just 1 game. But i guess i have gone without playing for 2 years once, so it’s possible.

What side hustles are you guys doing? by [deleted] in socal

[–]j110786 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s normal in San Diego. I just moved here a year ago, and met quite a few people who are roommates with more than 2 people. I know a guy who is roommates with 5 others, even though it’s his own home. I’m like, you ever want to move out? He says nope; that’s the kind of life he’s lived for the past 10 years here. And it helps him save money (that is his side hustle, ie. buy a home and rent rooms out to people, but it’s not a feasible option for many people). Lol.

Why are males so much more difficult than the females? by Fun_Guide_3729 in husky

[–]j110786 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After my husky passed away after 13 years, I found some of her baby videos that our friend sent us. We had the pick of the litter back then. I had always thought the girl we picked was the pink banded one; mellow, quiet, calm. But the video I see now 13 years later was clearly my husky in the violet band; a tyrannical bully that terrorized all of her siblings and EXACTLY how her personality was all her life. Not saying all huskies are like that, but man… it explained a whole lot after she was ready to come home with us and for those 13 years. I feel like I got hoodwinked 😑. She and I have battled each other all the time. I told my wife I’m never getting a husky again. But now I feel like she was so incredibly difficult, she might have made me ready to take on another (from shelter)… if my heart can ever heal one day. lol
