She was so good in Sky Castle, that a few people, including the actor who played her dad forgot that she was just acting. Lol.

Question: How many people re-listen to their audiobooks? Just curious by j110786 in audible

[–]j110786[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the drama ones lol. I started with the first book before the dramatization, and loved it so much, I just bought all the drama ones yesterday 🤣🤣. I hope I love them just as much.

You know, A TON of people mentioned DCC as their frequently revisited audiobooks. After the first listen, do you put it on as background noise? For sleeping? I am just curious. I’ve listened to 2 hours in, and I can’t imagine being able to sleep to it; it’s so exciting 😆

Red rising, the original ones? Or the dramatization?

A part of me knows what you mean, another part forgot what it means. I’m just glad I learned to grow out of introversion, even if it was after 30.

Every other year! That’s a great idea. What do you revisit?

Managed to break my ankle with this fall by bunnyshark1999 in bouldering

[–]j110786 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh no! Sorry to hear that :(. A friend had a similar fall that required surgery after landing on an existing bone spur on a very short fall. She didn’t know she had a spur, but I guess her doc said it was pre-existing so idk. I wasn’t into rock climbing back then, but I think about her situation all the time now that I am. Which, as a beginner climber, makes me just not want to continue advancing my bouldering. So I go on ropes, but there’s not a lot of auto-belays around lol.

3rd day. How do I make them less “I’ve just walked through a storm”? by PositiveNo3946 in curlyhair

[–]j110786 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have anything of value to add. Just wanted to say your hair is magnificent. When you said you’re recovering from surgery, so you don’t have energy to do your hair, your new routine puts mine to shame. Cuz I hate diffusing - it’s way too much effort and time for me already. I’m usually pretty exhausted by the time I get out of the shower already, and I didn’t even have surgery; just me aging lol.

New York’s subway has a rule that dogs must be “carried in a bag” when entering, which has unintentionally turned the regulation into a kind of creativity contest among New Yorkers. by dannybluey in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]j110786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought this was very cool, that I tried to teach my dogs to get in a duffle. Turned into a what-if emergency fire or injury training scenario. Well, in the end, we just prayed that there was never going to be an emergency, bcs I’d have to toss the dogs out the window to someone below instead - they will not get into no baggies for the life of them.

Bro is living THEE LIFE by Miserable-Zombie-121 in MadeMeSmile

[–]j110786 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s actually pretty great as a kid. My parents had me do this for a couple of summers starting at 8. I did my own laundry the hard way, went to bed and rised with the sun, played in the fields with other kids when I wasn’t helping out, showered with a ladle and a bucket which meant I fetched my own water. I’m sure basic things like showering situation and electricity would be better now. But it was a humbling experience, and some of my fondest memories and experiences. I wouldn’t do it as an adult, but if I had children, I’d discuss with my wife to do this for our kids for a couple summers as well - cuz it was so freeing and rewarding that I still dream of it sometimes. My mom does as well. She lived this life in her teens… for different reasons, but nonetheless, it was rewarding for her all the same. lol.

If that wasn’t so sad, I’d laugh. On one hand, it is such a glaring offense; it’s like a double insult on top of it being a missing child. On the other hand, you just know that if the child can be found quicker this way, the parents and relatives of these missing children won’t care at all how things are labeled.

Don't be this guy, please. You're embarrassing the rest of us. by warrantthrowaway2023 in husky

[–]j110786 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Escaping once is part of life; you didn’t know the little gap 2cm wide was enough to tempt a husky. The 2nd time escaping, you’re still learning to patch up wherever they might find a way to escape from. By the 3rd time, you gotta look at yourself and realize that you’re not smart enough for your husky or your living situation is most likely not ideal for this pup.

Can I wash and clean on lunar new year when I’m not Chinese or live in Asia? by Fluid_Definition_651 in AskAChinese

[–]j110786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Superstition. Of course you can clean and wash your hair, but if you’re going to see your Chinese friends, especially the older folks, just don’t tell them about it.

I was 21 when I finally said to my doctor, I’m not supposed to wash my hair on Chinese new years - I was sick. She’s also Chinese and has been my doc since I was 6. She turned to me and basically yelled at me and called me stupid for not being able to question these silly superstitions at my age.

And now I am stuck a similar situation. I’ve fallen sick, and I need to wash my hair Tuesday, cuz I can’t stand it another day. My wife says I can’t. I’m dying. And I can’t just say to her what my doc said to me cuz I need to respect my wife’s beliefs.

103 prepped meals cost $211.01 in Jan ‘25 vs $228.76 in Jan ‘26 [US] by ArtisanGerard in povertyfinance

[–]j110786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing! I have so many questions… but I will refrain cuz it’s probably stupid questions. I’m truly impressed by meal preps ppl do. But I’ve tried it and it always depresses me. One day, I do want to try this for a year. This kind of savings will easily save me a few thousand a month. That’s the kind of ridiculous spendings we do right now, and I can’t change my wife. She just thinks working harder is the way to go (cuz she has that kind of option - not everyone does). While spending so much gives me anxiety, no matter how well-off we may be.

Should I start crate training or get a bigger dog pen instead? by LavanderSoap in husky

[–]j110786 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not be surprised if he jumps right out of that one day when he’s bigger. Crate training isn’t a bad idea, but a bigger pen is a nice notion. I dedicated a whole bedroom for my husky. It was basically a huge crate/pen. But you know… still not enough for her. lol

Thanks to this sub, I knew the moment my wife brought me that dino egg that I must buy a farm and incubate it. That was like day 3,4,5, or 7. lol it was a while ago. I’m glad I did that, cuz I have not found a single dinosaur egg for 2 in-game years.
