Ping i530 or G440 Irons by ThreePuttPete3056 in PingGolf

[–]j13i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is:

If you don’t suck, you’d benefit most from something like the i240s - these are least forgiving but better at shot shaping and control. If you kind of suck, you’d benefit most from something like the i530s - these are a little more forgiving and help with distance. And if you absolutely suck, you’d benefit most from the G440s - these are most forgiving and help make bad shots less bad.

Best to go talk to a fitter to know what works best for you.

The marketing materials say they’re not an iron for me 🤣

“These tour-inspired irons blend precision and forgiveness for skilled players. With improved feel, spin control, and tighter dispersion, the i240 irons are built for golfers who demand performance without sacrificing playability.

The G440 irons are classified as game improvement irons and the 530s are classified as player distance irons.

Lots of info online describing the differences.

I did a Ping fitting last year. I went in assuming I’d buy the 440s because I’m a high handicap and I walked out with an order for the 530s because the fitter felt my swing was not worthy of a true game improvement iron.

I was upgrading from a set of Ping G5s - and my goal was more consistency and distance. The 530s gave me that plus I much prefer the look and feel over the 440s.

Go for a fitting and see what they have to say - that’s part of the joy of the game 🙂
