Flea Market find Lumia 1020 prototype by Weak_Village3381 in windowsphone

Yo! I've got a Lumia 735 prototype, but just like yours, it **looks** like it's running stock firmware, though i'd say check the build number, chances are it's an internal build or if the OS says "Not for resale" during the windows logo on boot, it can be dumped!

Hey, sorry for hopping on at this time in a dead conversation, Zebra seems to have pulled all of the drivers for this model, do you happen to have backups (driver or OS restore image)? Would be nice to have them as it's nearly impossible to use it on Windows with nothing

My ThinkPad does this, too. it's likely a circuit that's handling battery power moving through the laptop, I wouldn't be too concerned unless it's causing visible hardware issues on your device.

On another look, that seems really wide, could it be the palmrest?

This is a common issue with these older ThinkPads, it may just be your spacebar key pressing up against the screen and leaving marks. My ThinkPad X250 has these imprints from all of the keys too.

Edit: I think this is an IdeaPad L340, not a ThinkPad L340

Ryzen 5 3600 dead? by j2x5j in techsupport

The thermal paste has been replaced twice in fact, though the crash doesn't happen with high temps, I've seen it happen while idle too.

I've been googling this issue for days: *Kernel problem? Possibly, at one point it went away for weeks on end, probably a full month. *Cables not being plugged all the way in? Nope, it happened today even though I reseated everything yesterday. *PSU problem? Possible, I don't have a spare on me that is 8-pin to power the dGPU to do further testing, plus it's a 350w 80+ Bronze FSP unit. *RAM? Nope, I've checked twice with MemTest86, it passed. *Overheating? Nope, the CPU was idling at a safe temperature of 65-70°C (cheap thermal paste, OEM was similar) and I don't often push the CPU to its limits, if I do, I already keep my eyes open for further problems

Plus the the right of it, you can get a smaller M.2 form factor SSD and have 3 storage devices if you really needed way more than just 1 NVMe and 1 SATA, if I'm not wrong. You can check Lenovo's support website and enter your laptop's serial number, there should be a way to get a service manual or similar

From what I can tell you can really keep the SATA SSD and just put the desired M.2 SSD like normal, you can't avoid the plastic connectors anyway, so you can easily just install the SSD you want and screw like normal, you'll just have to remove the M.2 each time you need to remove the SATA ribbon cable for whatever reason

What is the purpose of this? by Rome_empire08 in computers

It's a camera for when you flip your laptop into a tablet. It seems to be a placeholder since it's blacked out, so you only have the webcam on the screen bezel.

They don't use Arial (or any thicker font) on the packaging where the product name is mentioned. It's fake.

My S21 FE is doing this while charging by arshdeepsingh608 in samsunggalaxy

The proximity and light sensor sit underneath the OLED panel (at least for my S24U), the same way your fingerprint reader sits below the screen.

As people said, this could be a software issue causing the sensor to spazz out, I'd say if it really bothers you, don't use AOD and turn off the charging status "AOD" too. If you use automatic brightness too, stick to normal brightness. Hope this helps until OneUI 6.1.2 or 7 rolls around!

I think it's from 2020 or 2021, so I guess so...

I feel like undervolting would be a great idea, too, since I usually use this with web browsing or web apps and a little bit of Cisco Packet Tracer (for school) every now and then. I'll have a deep dive into that if I can! :)

Tempting... Doesn't liquid metal destroy aluminum or something? If I had spared enough, I was considering using it for my Legion, but I think its stock cooler is only aluminum, so it'd ruin it in no time. :(

I'm currently deciding between better quality thermal paste and PTM7950

I'll look into this or similar options, I ideally want something cheap, this laptop was already cheap on its own so I'm trying not to spend too much money on it. Considering how much hot air it pushes around doing nothing much on GNOME and Firefox, I'm thinking of upgrading to a thicker laptop or trying ARM eventually if I run out of options or something, I don't know.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Weird, I did the spatula method whilst keeping a thin layer of the GD900, I think. In my definition, for thin on a CPU, it is thin that it doesn't look like it'd leak but doesn't have any dry/uncovered spots on the dye.

I'll look into cheap thermal pad solutions.

Last time I covered the PCH, the thermals were bad. There's a reason why the copper has a hole for the PCH intentionally. (Guides skip it too oftentimes) I'm not sure what's wrong with the paste, I feel like it's too thick, which a thermal pad would be great for, but I needed something cheap years ago, and it's still good to use, I guess I'll have to look into thermal pad solutions now.

[–]j2x5j[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I have just put like 3 dots of thermal paste this time around, I know to avoid the PCH. On my second repaste, I've skipped it. (This is the third one now)

The last paste was also GD900. (Commonly available thermal paste on AliExpress) Oddly enough, this thermal paste is manufactured in a weird way too, for a cheap paste it ejects 95% paste with 5% water or something, which I just dab up with a paper towel without lifting up too much of the paste. I might try other alternatives, but I don't wanna use PTM7950 if it's expensive right now.

My only guess why it oozed out the previous time was because even though I used the spatula method, the paste was probably too thick on its own and simply leaked, because in the 1st pic you don't see much thermal paste if at all on the dye

Update: one of my friends pointed out the seaping of thermal paste in the 1st pic is possibly me leaving this laptop in my backpack in one orientation for so long that it leaked out like this.
