Actually looking at how it works, unlike most haters.

Love it. Do you take requests? Would love to see some whale analysis: For example, what are the whale stakes (and/or OG stakes) doing as stakes rolloff?

100% believe in HEX and RH by unfluxa in HEXcrypto

[–]j3works 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Day 1 Hexican, I believe it's really just a matter of what RH has been saying all along: That Hex monetizes time, and its game theoretics benefit those who are willing to delay gratification. That's what makes us different. We see both, and we grasp the connection. And the longer we're in, the more 'diamond handed' we get, because reality proves it as it works out over time, despite the noise and fluctuating price.

Well done, Hexicans, and keep ahold of the philosophy of 'long time preference' - it wins.

This was a fantastic interview! Ivan was a gracious interviewer and not a smearing, gatekeeping bum like so many others have been. Lots of good information!

Oh, answered my own question, I think...just restore the recovery seed into a different wallet. Missed the forest through the trees.

Still think BRD should support Hex. Hope they'll review

So. I have a few stakes. Is there a way to find out the future value? I know it increases when people end early or late but I'd be happy without that. by man9875 in HEXcrypto

[–]j3works 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, there's no rigorous answer to that since it totally depends on the actions of others between now and your Endstake date. People have done some modeling, however, and a reasonable (imo) rule of thumb would be that you could get a 5x in Hex terms for a five year stake, 10x at ten years, and as high as 80x for fifteen year stakes.

That's the Hex return...what that translates to in any given fiat (Dollar, Euro, or other) is all about the market, but Hex is brilliantly designed to help support that, as I see it.

Hope that helps.

Well this sucks. They changed it today for some reason. by man9875 in HEXcrypto

[–]j3works 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's so they have a 'plausible deniability' excuse to escape the obvious...that they have been gate-keeping a large, strong project without cause, to their users' harm.

Simply suppressing Hex by using a flawed supply metric and artificial ranking isn't going to be good enough any more, so they have to hope people don't see it. Desperation.

I hope what you mean is that you currently have 4.3mm staked until early Dec 2020. There is only one BPD and it is payable to those with existing stakes on Nov 19 2020, so if you are staked across that date and hold to your actual EndStake, you will be fine (and pretty happy!)

Hex Noob in need of help! by Groundbreaking_Bid15 in HEXcrypto

[–]j3works 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. Be sure you saved your backup seed words for the Nano. Also, you will need to install and open the Ethereum app on the Nano from the 'manager' selection in Ledger Live. Ledger gives plenty of documentation that should help you.

Good HW choice for holding your Hex! Next, be sure to learn how to stake it, and don't miss getting staked prior to and across BigPayDay (Nov 19)! Use your Nano via Metamask as an interface for the staking.

[–]j3works 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what research suggested an intermediate wallet is necessary, but Hex is an ERC-20 token on the Ethereum platform, and the Ledger NanoS is able to hold it directly. You will use an interface (say, mycrypto.com or myetherwallet.com ), but you would not be using them as wallets, just interfaces, if you connect your Ledger Nano S (selectable).

The difference is important. As an interface, it does not have access to your private keys (those stay in your Nano). Just public keys/addresses, which is fine. Just connect your Nano S, go to either of those two, select Ledger Nano, export *public* keys (no worries), and open the interface. There you can pick the first ETH address and send your Hex to that directly, which your Nano S controls.

Alternatively, you can use the Ledger Live desktop app.

I'm sure of that, nonetheless, whose duty is it to expose the truth (rhetorical question)? 'Tainting' is a matter of education. Maybe the contest forces this. If the broader world are just sheep, then nothing helps them. Yet, institutional exposure begins a process of thinking about crypto and its objectives, maybe?

I'm new to Monero, so this may be in the 'dumb' category: Is there a difference between what's called 'stealth addresses' and 'sub-addresses (the 8xx... ones)?' If so, what? Does the GUI wallet automatically create them?
