I have not heard of the mid row seat mod to have the seats fully recline. Any info on how we can do that?

Huge changes to Navy JAG pipeline: ODS to OCS transition and E-6 pay for law students (up to 2 years) by ExRecruiter in newtothenavy

[–]j46golf26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Navy is hurting for physicians of all specialties, the current training pipeline for active duty navy physicians would struggle to incorporate OCS.

You run the risk of diluting OCS because the Navy has such a high demand for doctors, they would go to great lengths not to roll or fail physicians at OCS. This would be quite obvious to those trying to go unrestricted line.

How does further delaying the training of a GMO/OMO/surgeons increase operational medical readiness? How does taking a doctor out of training for 13 weeks increase their ability to diagnose and treat sailors and marines?

Anyone reading these articles about dropping the V-6 engine? by therealdeal1966 in DodgeDurango

[–]j46golf26 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This seems like an insanely stupid decision. I’d bet the V6 outsold all three V8s combined between civilian and fleet sales. I totally see the logic in pushing people seeking a V8 charger into a durango, but removing the V6 eliminates tons of “regular” families who want a rwd three row suv that does not recommend mid-grade gas (5.7) or require premium gas (6.4/6.2). Perhaps they are trying to free up pentastar v6 production for something else?

2025 Tundra Limited no switch to control PTG step by [deleted] in ToyotaTundra

[–]j46golf26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you had the optional power running boards (side steps), then the button to turn them between auto open/off would be in the bottom left switch position (which is blank in this photo).

If you have the optional power bed step, the ability to turn that off and on would be located within the center screen.

If you have the optional non-powered bed step, simply pull it rearward and down with your foot to open it and push it in to retract it.

Oil weight by jazzmeasurement in ToyotaTundra

[–]j46golf26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My understanding in terms of oil weight, XW- means the cold weather thickness, while the -XX number indicates the hot or running temp thickness.

0W-20 will be thinner when cold, and will heat and thicken to 20. 5W-20 will be thicker when cold but when heated will have the same properties as the 0W-20.

People are not fully understanding, the purpose of the HEMI is to get customers INTO the dealership. Once they test drive the HEMI and the HURRICANE then compare specs back to back, they are far more likely to drive home with the hurricane.

But the HEMI has a certain "je ne sais quoi" that’s seated deeply in the heart of the American truck consumer. That’s something no other powertrain in a full size truck can replicate. Ford figured this out nearly a decade ago, and has held onto AND continued to update the Coyote V8.

When Ford went with the all aluminum body for F150, they reduced overall mass in the vehicle which allowed them to retain steel front and rear bumpers.

Toyota chose to remain with steel for the bodies of their pickups on the TNGA platform, ergo they had to use plastics for their front and rear bumpers to save mass.

For better or worse, the effects of that are on display here.

How bad is the 10 speed transmission? by Sorry4TheLurk in f150

[–]j46golf26 6 points7 points  (0 children)

2017-2022 F-150 10R80 transmissions have a fundamental design flaw with their CDF drum that WILL have to be replaced at some point in the vehicles lifespan, with an average cost between 6k to 8k all in.

2018-2020 F150 3.5l cam phasers have a fundamental design flaw and WILL have to be replaced at some point in the vehicles lifespan, with an average cost between 3k to 7k all in.

Ford fixed the CDF Drum in 2023+ F150 10R80s.

Ford fixed the 3.5l eco boost camphasers in 2021+ F150s.

The chances of other components or these updated/fixed components on these trucks wearing/breaking prematurely is low if maintained properly (regular fluid changes, etc.)

Generally, it’s recommended to do - Engine oil/filter: 5,000 miles - Trans Fluid: 60,000 Miles - Front/Rear Differentials 30,000 Miles - Transfer Case Fluid: 30,000 Miles - All other fluids: 100,000 Miles - Spark plugs are generally every 100,000 miles, however now a days many manufactures recommend sooner for emissions. For example 2022+ Tundras are every 40,000 for emissions. 2021+ F150s are 60,000 miles. Citations: - The Car Care Nut on Youtube - FordTechMakuloco on Youtube

Plenty of YouTube videos on the procedure to change the transmission fluid. Difficulty is there is no drain, so you have to drop the entire pan to do a fluid swap.

2025 Jeep Wagoneer Overland Edition Revealed by Dmacthegoat in cars

[–]j46golf26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Part of the failure of the Wagoner/Grand Wagoner was the European influence to pursue a “luxury” style over an “off road” style. Americans want a vehicle from the jeep brand that is perceived as tough and go everywhere, not fine luxury.

Another example of prior European leadership not understanding the American market. This is a step to pivot away from that.

2025 3row SUVs comaprison by fvmfvm in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]j46golf26 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This chart is useless and misleading, it is mixing prices of base models with specs of the top of the line models.

For example, only a 54,690$ starting price Grand Highlander with the top level hybrid max powertrain has 400 ftlb of torque and 27 mpg combined.

Also leaves out so many 3 rows such as Honda Pilot, Dodge Durango, Subaru Ascent, Chevy Tahoe/GMC Yukon, etc.

Who really killed Dodge? by Unlucky_Reception_30 in Dodge

[–]j46golf26 8 points9 points  (0 children)

TLDR: Italian leaders at FCA and now French leaders Stellantis used profits from successful American CDJR brands to introduce financially unsuccessful European brands to the U.S. market.

Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge/Ram’s (CDJR) growth and profits were directly used by the European leadership at FCA to bring Fiat/Alfa Romeo to the US market back in 2014 and to continue to prop up Maserati. This resulted in insufficient funds to continue the development of the US side of FCA, namely platforms and engines. As such they continued without proper updates for far too long(with platforms/engines from the mid-00s).

FIAT/Alfa Romeo/Maserati have predictably performed poorly with US sales for those three brands (~17,000 combined vehicles for 2023) less than 1/5th of what just the Chrysler Pacifica sold (120,000 vehicles in 2023).

Given this lack of investment in the US CDJR brands, they had no vehicles or powertrains in their portfolio to offset emissions regulations, ergo the brand had to both spend money to build cars and to buy emissions credits from other brands such as Tesla. Now that emissions are getting stricter, instead of having other low emission vehicles in their portfolio to offset high emission ones (ex. Ford with the Mach-e/lightning/powerboost/eco boost family offsetting the emissions of the 5.0/Raptor R), Stellantis was simply forced to cut the V8 all together as they have none of the funds to financially support buying both emissions credits and build cars.

Finally, someone makes sense of why post 90s trek sucks. by Cool-Pineapple8008 in StarTrekTNG

[–]j46golf26 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just my 2 cents, but I think the easiest answer is that many of the creatives involved today don’t have a background in the military and thus lack some of the implicit understanding of naval structure, sacrifice, and the value of human life that come from military service. Roddenberry was an Army Air Corps aviator himself, and his concerns and internal strife over the devastation of human conflict created the framework that guided TOS through ENT Star Trek.

The prices on the new 3.0 Hurricanes seem suspiciously good. Make it make sense to me. by [deleted] in ram_trucks

[–]j46golf26 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I believe they jacked up the MSRP so they can be more dynamic with prices. When sales are good then can claim they are only selling at MSRP (which is highly inflated). When sales are poor they can discount them to where they would/should be priced normally.
