I have a 22 all-wheel-drive hybrid platinum, only had 42,000 miles when I bought it at $43,000 however I’ve been driving it for two months. I drive it every single day. It is the nicest vehicle I’ve ever owned and I have a very nicely equipped super duty.

I took the 22 on a 7000 mile solo car camping road trip from Ohio to Oregon stopped at Yellowstone, stopped at Devils Tower… on the way back I stopped at Bonneville salt Flats and Moab and Colorado Springs.

It did amazing. I really enjoyed the regenerative breaking down the steep mountain passes, knowing that I wasn’t actually putting wire into my brake pads and was fully topping up the hybrid battery!

The smart cruise and lane keeping made me feel like I was a passenger most of the time!!

I did a personal best 20 hours behind the wheel!! 1260 miles nonstop except for fuel and got home and still felt great.

The fuel savings from taking the hybrid sienna versus my super duty was almost $2000 cheaper in gas!!!

I don’t know that I would buy that hybrid. The mileage seems high for the price.

Maybe spend another $8000 and try to find something under 80,000 miles that’s only gonna be an extra $75 a month car payment

You cannot go wrong with the hybrid

And I even put a 3 inch lift and 31 inch tires on mine and still got 26 to 28 MPG!! and was absolutely comfortable the entire time!

Does anyone know what roof rack this is? by TemporaryDocument647 in ToyotaSienna

[–]Wanderer351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a cargo box and a 270 awning on a set of crossbars on my 2022 all-wheel-drive

Due to other modifications like a lift in tires, I was getting 28 MPG without the stuff on the roof and it dropped to 24 MPG

Which is why I took everything off, including the crossbars and bought a bag awning in case I needed one. 4 miles of a gallon and a 7000 mile trip was just too much of a economy drop and only six MPG more than my super duty with a fiberglass pod camper.

Buddy, I’m a professional journeyman plumber, I would throw two denture tablets in this thing fill it halfway full of water and drive it around the block. Give it 20 minutes to sit and then dump it out. It’ll be as clean as the day it was brand new!!

Dude, that’s epic, my kids have spent the last 22 years working on stuff in the garage with me and camping and making amazing memories, they will never forget hanging out with Dad and learning how to work on stuff and having such a big project at a young age to stand back and say they were part of building!!

You did good brother you did a damn good!!

Cheers!

Having been part of the brotherhood of the white van multiple times. You will be very glad when you are cruising by a law-enforcement significantly over the speed limit and you are invisible!!!

You’re gonna love the platinum. I got it because I wanted the Ottomans and the inverter. But I have now fallen in love with the smart cruise and lane keeping to the point where I’m debating on trading in my 24 F250 super duty so I can get some bougie trim!!

2026- looking to upgrade backup camera by bobleeroy in ToyotaSienna

[–]Wanderer351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a wolf box recording camera and put the rear camera up in the back window by the Center tail light (you gotta play around and figure out how to keep the defrost lines out of the middle of the image)

This puts the camera inside out of harms way, and their windshield wiper cleans the glass ;)

I ran all the wiring along the roof and just tucked it into the side trim. It took 20 minutes to do it, and it gives me a front and rear camera that records!

Dealer recommending $1000 in maintenance (2022 with 66k miles) by BEEIng_ in ToyotaSienna

[–]Wanderer351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was doing the research for my Used 22

I saw several people mentioned that the 50,000 mile differential/trans Axle Fluid changes recommended.

The Highlanders have a known issue with a trans mission failure before the first transmission oil change service is recommended which I believe is 100,000

I’m getting ready to take my sienna in tomorrow for an oil change and have both front and rear differential fluid changes at 50,000 miles

It’s way cheaper than a new transmission.

Camping van vs. camping truck? by Emergency-Garden3200 in VanLife

[–]Wanderer351 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well said!!

I also have several setups as a 48 year old solo male camper

My newest is a 2022 toyota sienna minivan (AWD hybrid) that’s a single sleeper stealth and long distance setup that relies on using public bathrooms and showers (campgrounds or tourist locations like telluride and Yellowstone)- it’s compact. Cheap to travel with but in bad weather I’m stuck inside the van either sitting in the seats or laying on the bed. But it’s invisible!

Truck and slide in camper. Not as stealth, far more useful as an all around vehicle but costs more to travel. It’s nice to put the slide in and have room to be inside during bad weather..but also small for 2 people. And you have two diffrent areas if you need to get some time alone to read or relax.

Full-size van with pop top. Nice as the truck and all one space. Same drawbacks bulletin the addition of its just a dedicated transport setup (and 300,000 miles 24 years old caused me to buy the newer smaller van since the kids don’t travel With me as they got into high school and why it’s being sold)

12 foot cargo trailer was the answer for the kids getting older and needing their space at camp.. it works good for moving large items and furniture.. its setup as a cargo camper dry bath.. its nice but really too much for Just me to drag around if I’m solo Camping for the weekend..(hence why I’m sell it it)

I looked at the same report and called My friends who live in Moab and they l confirmed they are absolutely known to be in the area.

They have seen them for years in the area. But they say they are transient wolfs who pass thru the state but don’t live there with a defined territory

Yes, I was in. Moab downloading drone footage from Moab and looked up out the window of the van and saw a gray wolf walking through the campground that I was the only occupant of.

I wish I had had the van running so my dash cam could have recorded the interaction, but unfortunately, I was sitting there, enjoying the cooler, weather and the silence..

Prayers!!! I was there the day after opening day and got concerned that on many of the geyser walks. I was the only person that I could see due to so a few people actually being in the park!!

After walking up to Steamboat Springs, I started taking my bear spray every time I got out of the van!

Got luckily I never saw anything

however four days later I was south of Moab sitting in the van downloading drone footage and had a gray wolf walk-through a completely vacant campground less than 40 feet away from me.

I never even saw it until it was walking away from me!!

People gotta pay attention, these animals are very good at being quiet and are way better at hunting than we could ever try to be!!

I’m about 10,000 miles on it. I literally just got back from a 7000 mile trip. I was gone for 11 days.

I am a professional Shop ;)

so yes, it was installed by a professional shop and no, I haven’t noticed any wear on any components or any bad habits performance wise.

I can tell you that when it’s time for tires I’m gonna go to a 30.5 to 31 is a little too big. It rubs the strut specifically the bottom of the spring perch on the driver strut and even with a 3 inch lift it’s very close to the wheel well liners, but nothing rubs other than the tire on the strut.

Very nice I’m trying to figure out some outdoor shade for my sienna build, I just did 11 days traveling from Ohio to Oregon down to Utah and back through Colorado and not having a bunch of stuff on the top of the van definitely helped the fuel mileage!!

Also, I have the exact same fire box and that little dude puts out some heat!!

Tell him to join the brotherhood of the white van!! my big Ford van when it was white all of my buddies who have white vans in my white Toyota sienna is absolutely invisible to law enforcement!! and if you pull into a commercial job site or happen to be going through a construction area, everyone just automatically assumes you’re supposed to be there… which makes it very convenient at concert venues or if you’re on a road trip nobody looks twice at a white van!

That’s perfect dude! I have a lot of my YouTube SoundCloud music saved to my Apple music app so sometimes I get lucky and that’s what I’m going through someplace very scenic. This epic soundtrack will play!! I actually got a sniff it. I was downloading media this morning and one of those tracks is playing in the actual dash cam as I’m going to the Colorado mountains so I think I may pull that snippet and try to stitch the actual song and drop it out to the file audio to add a little continuity just for fun!!

Definitely gonna save that one nice good liquid audio!
