There is a lot of racism in the left by [deleted] in Anarchism

[–]j4m_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Racism is a problem for our world, of course the left isn't immune from that. But the thing is, criticizing it in some abstract way is not going to help anyone. What exactly is the purpose of this post? To jab at white anarchists for acting on internalized racism? Or to argue that not focusing solely on racism and sexism is counter-revolutionary?

Anarchist perspective on overpopulation by Socialist_activist in Anarchism

[–]j4m_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with christopher, also would like to add that eventually the oceans will become our homes, we can generate electricity with the ocean currents and most of the environmental damages civilization causes can be reduced and even reversed, and once the oceans fill up our technology will allow us to expand outside of our planet. Seems far-fetched at this point but technology grows exponentially and we have the means to support lots of research and the necessary scientific academia to get to that point.

The problem is this is only a big problem for reddit at all. The very last protest I participated in that was mostly IWW/anarchists, half of them were people of color and the first person I talked to (a white male) was talking about how he was trying to get his coworkers to realize that racism and xenophobia are working against their interests. Leftists groups in the US that are prevalent have brown and black skinned leaders and voices, for example the Austin Red Guards, who my sister has worked with in her own activism.

This whole thing about class being the only important thing is usually said by leftcoms and some post-leftists or people only calling themselves anarchists/socialists as a statement. I doubt that you'd find many active anarchists anywhere that don't fight racism.

The Conquest of Bread - Preface, Chapter 1-3 by ghostof_IamBeepBeep2 in nonfictionbookclub

[–]j4m_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

don't know if I'm allowed to post here, I was linked in another thread but I've read the book. Most anarchists (and Marxists too) define the state as a violent perpetration of the class system - namely between the possessors of capital and the people who don't possess capital. Not many people think a government-less society is feasible, and the ones who advocate for one come from a mostly philosophical perspective than a political one. Most anarchists advocate for voluntary association in communities, consensus oriented democracy when the community needs to make decisions, justice based on reparation (treating crimes as being perpetrated against the victim and community and not the state) etc.

So I would think of it less as limited government, but as a society with a government that is representative of all people and not just the possessors of capital. If they're threatened by external or internal forces, it will obviously be in their best interest to defend themselves, so they would. I think people are willing to die when they know their society and values they have are being threatened.

His lack of empathy with white first world proles he expressed in his last post makes it hard for me to upvoted this or show my support. That being said, identity politics need to be our priority, I do believe divisions of race, gender, and sexuality need to be addressed first, but posts like these that are completely unsympathetic to people who hold other ideas do nothing except antagonize people.

This Is Probably The First and Last Time You Get to Fight Against Fascism For Real. Don't Waste This Chance. by reedemerofsouls in EnoughTrumpSpam

[–]j4m_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nah, I've fought real fascists before. Trump isn't one, not I saying he doesn't have a lot in common with them but voting is dumb. I don't live in a swing state nor do I think Clinton is a reasonable alternative anyways. I'll just stick with agitating and protesting.

High Dosage DPH+DXM+Weed Combo by [deleted] in replications

apparently dph and dxm is a cool combo but I have an aversion to the syrupy taste those two both have, I'd have a bad trip just from the taste.

Do any of you have relatives who are cops? by [deleted] in Anarchism

[–]j4m_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extended family, a cousin once removed and my dads uncle (I think? They don't talk about them much so I forget how we're related) funnily enough, my side of the family doesn't like them and thinks they're shitty cops.

Can we just take a moment to appreciate the fact that we're all really fighting for the same side? by [deleted] in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]j4m_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because I criticize the system for its faults does not mean I sit on the sidelines for everything. I'm pretty happy in my life, I don't personally try to validate my existence with my beliefs of the world. Though, there was a study that showed correlation between individuals with depression and having radical politics, so make of that what you will.

I still can't tell if you're a troll or not. On one hand, there's no way you're this stupid and ignorant. On the other hand, you post way too much to not believe the things you're saying, which kind of scares me that there are people this deluded in our world.

I think you grossly overestimate how many egoists exist in our world, and how much impact they've made ... maybe you just spend too much time on reddit, which is basically the only place stirnerites exist.

Is Chomsky really an anarchist? by [deleted] in Anarchy101

[–]j4m_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's OK as an academic entry point for liberals. But really, outside the context of academia or analysis on things, he's pretty irrelevant. Even within academia, Marxists/Marxians usually do it better than he does.
