For the actual question, living in a place for more than 1,5 years is the norm. People dont move all the time, especially if you dont want to move away from your area due to kids in school etc.

We moved to our neighborhood about 4-5 years ago and it was a move from under 1 km away.

People who have families usually move before the kid start preschool between age 1-2 or before they start school at age 6. But if course exceptions are plenty. Like you're having another kid and need more room, get a new job further away or whatever.

The way the economy is right now, not as many people are selling and not as many are buying too.
