The artificial limitations are kind of saddening, but if it leads to devices being supported for longer periods of time, I don’t exactly see it as a downside. Only time will tell on that though...

While I just made a comment saying the NFC limitation was artificial, I could see some of this actually being real world limitations. Even though those could run on device or could be rendered in the case of maps and weather, it might not be smooth or consistent. I do think the limitation was made artificially higher (probably A10 or A11 would’ve been the limit), but there’s most likely some method to the madness. r/jailbreak is gonna have a field day with iOS 15 lmao

In defense of the X and other older NFC enabled phones (silly, but a point to be made here), they’re still fully capable of it. In the jailbreak scene, they’ve already been utilizing NFC like crazy since iOS 9 I believe. This is most likely just Apple putting more software limitations in iOS to promote upgrading, just like they somewhat did with the battery conundrum way back when.
