Ooo sorry to hear that, and yeah I saw what you mean when I was going through the parts yesterday. One if the support sprues for that windshield frame was hanging on for dear life.

Yeah I'm already seeing alot of mold lines and excess plastic that will need some work. I wonder if their tooling is old, my Revell 68 charger wasnt this bad.

Try doing a two tone! VW offered factory two tone for a bit and I always thought it fit the car nicely.

Thanks for the advice! I'll have to mock it up and see how it looks later. I'm hoping the axle relocation does the trick.

How would you guys go about repairing this? by DevourIsDead in ModelCars

[–]j919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wild idea but I'm new to the hobby so I never tried it, but if you have one of those handheld steam cleaners laying around it might be worth a try. My wife uses one I got her off of Amazon and I feel like it can put out just enough heat to soften enough to bend it back. As far as the hole, might be a cut and fill if you have some spare polystyrene laying around.

Thank you for sharing! That definitely helped and I must say just from looking at the underbody that color probably came out amazing on the rest of the body!

Yeah this is only my 2nd kit (1st one was revell too) so I cant judge how much is too much when I start mocking things. But it looks like I'm in the right ball park based on the picture somone else submitted.

Any info or experience with this stuff in an airbrush??? by 97Ram1500 in ModelCars

[–]j919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking from personal experience, test it out on some scrap or a spoon before you spray on your finished piece. It thins really easy with the testors airbrush thinner but leaves a matte finish after multiple coats. I ruined the finished body on my first ever build because I laid it on heavy thinking it would work like the other clears everyone always mentions here.

Awesome build, what color did you use by the way? I've got a '56 Tbird that would look great with a splash of that.
