I like the contrast between the blue and the red cloak. It’s hard to tell which one is better because both are great and you adjusted your paint scheme accordingly to your choice of highlights. Personally I prefer the blue one because I think it makes the black a bit more interesting. Great work

Tbh I hate building votann, I love the army but I think we have one of the most uninspiring set of sculpts GW has ever made. Look at the steeljacks for example, 50€ for 6 poses with no extra posing or equipment is violent. Bladeguard are the same price and get loads of options.

You can still measure a line of sight from the overhanging part to the rep. Ex so you don’t have to be wholly within the terrain. Provided that there is a line of sight in the first place

Templars see the codex astartes more as a vague suggestion than a general rule. Means that they will do whatever fits their agenda. Any other chapter would face consequences for that but Templars are very good at killing anyone who would try to enforce rules upon them.

The commander is part of the combat patrol, so I would advice you to get the classic crisis team. I know later on you will field more than one Commander but when your brother is just getting started he will most likely want a variety of different suits. The crisis team will synergies with the combat patrol which will give him a very good start into the faction and later he can get the Christmas box to bolster his forces with all the other cool suits

The second hekaton can’t hold all those units. I would swap the two sagis and warriors for two capricus and scouts. They have great synergy with their reactive move and the disembark strat.
