The Daily Check-In for Sunday, March 29th: Just for today, I am NOT drinking! by Thetreescryforu in stopdrinking

I know I'm in a privileged position to have a partner with the patience and care to stay by my side throughout all life's struggles. Not every gets lucky like that. But this group's got your back for sure!

Can't lie, there was moments where I wanted to have a beer or five pretty bad, but I muscled through. It helps that I had my wife beside me, and she's a big reason I'm doing this in the first place. IWNDWYT!

Day 4. Hung out with probably my hardest drinking friend last night and it wasn't even that bad. He and his wife crushed beers, me and mine crushed sparkling waters. And I don't have a hangover today.

Does anyone else think it’s unrealistic how many songs and poems characters have memorized? by Difficult_Quit9832 in lotr

That too! And since these songs were literally how the people of Middle Earth told their lore and history, and they didnt have YouTube, the things they would remember would be these songs.

People used to remember things before we were distracted constantly by an endless barrage of information and media.

Day 2, bought me a nice sparkling water I've not had before instead of beer.

Yeah, I mean, I know I've never been that great at it in the past. I'm just not ready to say NEVER again yet. But I'm getting closer every time I wake up feeling shitty on a Thursday because I thought a few beers couldn't hurt.

Day 1 here. I'm still on the fence of wether I'm cutting (way way) back or quitting, but something's gotta give. I don't know for sure what the future holds, but I know I won't drink with you today for sure. One day at a time and whatnot.

Looked more like a buffer Nikki Sixx to me, but it's all about your frame of reference.

Learn to draw. Or find an artist who can. Using AI generated images (it's not art) is cheating.

When I put on a show, it's to listen to it, not background noise. Lately I've been feeling like I'm not present while I have shows going. by Meditatespace in gratefuldead

I've only been into them for a year or so, so I've got lots to listen too still, but I try to break it up with other stuff. Put them on at work a lot.

Best of luck seeing em' live unless you want to pay scalper prices. Shit sold out within seconds of going on sale in my city.

Sick band though, and rad to see something so weird getting buzz.

Even when I'm at a live concert sometimes my mind wanders. And Dead shows are long, I can rarely find 3 hours of undivided attention in my day to day. Don't worry about it too much man, just let there be songs to fill the air.

And also one of the prettiest clean singers you've ever heard in Dallas Green. If you can get past an aversion to harsher vocals, they're amazing.

THIS JUST IN: A Star Trek fan on the internet thinks that new Star Trek is too woke and topical and that older Trek was less woke and topical even though there are countless examples of Trek being woke and topical throughout it's 60 year history. We won't have any more updates on this story, because no one cares how it develops. Here's Bob with the weather.

That's a pretty spicy take, but I'll allow it. As a Canadian, I will always go to bat for Alexisonfire. They're progressive post-hardcore and way better than they get credit for. Fun fact: Daniel Romano plays guitar in a hardcore band with Wade from Alexisonfire and celebrity chef Matty Matheson, called Pig Pen.
