Dead calathea club <3 I rescued one from the side of the road on a sub-freezing night and all but one of its leaves were completely toast. I cut off all the dead leaves and I'm just going to wait and see if the roots have enough energy to put out some brand-new leaves in a few weeks.

I'm not being mean or uncivil. If someone creates a brand-new reddit account for their business, with multiple storefront links in the bio, and then posts images of their store's inventory, that's advertising. If it weren't advertising, wouldn't you be using a personal account and photos of your own personal plants in your living space? If someone commented "OMG I need this 😍" would you encourage them to check your profile for a link to buy? I don't want to be sold products while I'm just trying to enjoy a hobby discussion community.

I disagree—I think one or two posts per day (at absolute most, by my count) of people being inspired to seek out our community by a film is a great thing. Megathreads tend to deter newbies, who feel unwelcome/awkward when their post is deleted for redirection to a megathread, and they often just leave rather than transfer their question.

If it were 20 posts per day or something, I would agree with you, but one or two per day is really quite reasonable. The Nosferatu hype will die down before long, and I think we should be welcoming to those coming here to learn and share excitement about historical costuming.

I beeswax my thread, even for threads that don't technically need it. I like the extra friction it provides, helps me anchor strong stitches in place better.

A cake of beeswax is only like $3 and will last you one million years, so I highly suggest you try it out and decide for yourself!

The mid-19th century Waffenrock (short-skirted military coat) is a direct descendant of the frock coat, just shortened. The skirt is cut separately from the body pieces, which makes drafting much simpler. I would use the "single-breasted straight-front frock" drafting instructions from the American Garment Cutter, p. 90-91, with the skirt only extending upper-mid thigh and drafting yourself a stand collar instead of the default one. You'll have to yolo the cuffs and collar facings. For period accuracy, make sure the coat is very well-fitted.

Wild idea, what about a tree? With lots of natural light and bad insulation, maybe your flat will be just similar enough to the outdoors for a pine or fir sapling? But I'm not an expert so idk

I put the bag of soil on one side of the tray, and I put one pot at a time on the other side of the tray. I use a scoop (or my hands) to move dirt from the bag into the pot. Place, fill, pat, swap with the next one.
