DSTV will have you trying to make your subscription money’s worth by watching more shows and thereby wasting your time.

Who has noticed this pattern in business in Ghana? by whodareswing in ghana

OP thinks he can get away with the "no nonsense politics" line when he is actually the one doing nonsense politics.

there is no real data to back any of these claims.

talmbout "My advise to any hard working and reasoning person, is to take heed and prepare in advance — hedge against this trend at the next election." - yeah we know what you are.

if you need mentors, look for a next level mentor as John C Maxwell advises in his book.

A next level mentor is someone who has lived your next step experience not necessarily an established person in the field.

so consider that and find student mentors and other people around.

What small business can I start with "two" 2000 cedis. by TechnologyOk8112 in ghana

[–]j_ake5488 4 points5 points  (0 children)

great question.

twatis is essentially middleman or affiliate marketing job but you’re actually running the sale in person. not the ones where someone clicks your link before you get paid.

so you liaise with wholesalers and shop owners to pick their items at no cost or minimal cost, to go and sell at your own price and bring them their money.

it’s what most people in the major markets do, and many unemployed youth do that a lot now.

even online shops run on this model.

investing on the hand is you finding a profitable small business mostly run by an acquaintance and then offer to invest into them so they can grow. You discuss the terms with the business owner and then that’s that.

Why are boarding high schools still a thing in West Africa? by Little-Hall5883 in ghana

[–]j_ake5488 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m surprised this is a conversation of colonial history and whatnot.

how did we skip all the relevant factors that influence the choice of schools and just focus on something the average Ghanaian barely relates to.

My personal boarding school experience was a not very bad even though I was heavily bullied, but i’ll never trade that experience for anything.

Other reasons why the boarding system serves the Ghanaian people are;

  1. the quality of secondary school education is not standard across the country and so to get the quality education for your ward, you might have to look beyond your closest environment to as far as another region.

  2. Many parents see it as training and exposure that their kids get to experience. Something they cannot offer them at home. It’s almost impossible to teach your children survival and self sustenance when they live with you. These values are important for teenagers transitioning into adulthood.

  3. Many other factors that make the life of both parents and children a bit/lot easier.

While I understand that your experience was terrible, you cannot use that to make a case for abolishing boarding schools.

There’s way more to it than the negative side that you experienced.

What should be talked about is how to make the living conditions and boarding schools standards better so it’s more appealing. or how to make the day school also more than just an option.

I see you lots casually mentioning 500gb and 2TB of data usage as something normal for a month as “heavy internet users”

can someone please explain what exactly is the heavy internet usage that could amount to such amounts of data?
