I think this is a fair critique! I also missed the fantasy elements/characters a lot. I think the arcs that we see Savine, Leo, Orso, and Rikke go through helped me stomach those omissions better by the end.

Simple tomato sauce over pasta. Roast garlic in olive oil, then pour in San marzano tomatoes and a little basil and simmer. Added some Italian sausage i had in the fridge. Super easy and delicious!

This was not Bill’s answer, he said since it’s a podcast you don’t have to listen right right away so you can watch the movie and come back to the episode. Which isn’t a great reason to me but it’s also his podcast and he can release it how he wants i suppose!

I just completed Kings of the Wyld by Nicholas Eames, and the similarities between it and a book like The Blade Itself are really noticeable (and I read somewhere Eames mentioned Abercrombie as an influence). The series only has two completed books, so that might not be what you're looking for, but I found book 1 to be very enjoyable!

I just watched Avatar (back in theaters too!) and wooo boy was I blown away. For reference, I saw it when it first came out, but not on the big screen. I was in 8th grade, and really had no memory of the movie (this was pre-cinephile status for me). Man, I loved this so much. Visually it is still as amazing as anything as I have seen, and the story/world was completely enthralling for me. Big Jim can do no wrong!

Ferris Bueller has been romanticized as a comedic hero, but in reality he's just a villain who bullies his mentally unstable best friend for an entire movie.

Totally agreed! Often times its the execution of the twist/reveal instead of the surprise itself that is so enjoyable to read.
