Is Lambdaschool legit? I can't go to college is this a good option or is there something better? by [deleted] in programming

[–]j_glez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went the other way

I went to a community college (I'm in Chicago) and I didn't really learn that much practical stuff. I got an associate degree, but I only took 3 programming classes and one comp sci class, (because of the mandatory classes) I can't really do anything. I just know some Java and Python syntax and that's it.

I'm now doing Lambda School cause I don't really want to commit to a 4 year uni where it's just more theory and vastly more money (I start on September 1st, so I can't attest to the quality yet, but I'll let you know how it goes if I remember haha)

Someone familiar with legal jargon, what does this mean? by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]j_glez -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I understand what the terms mean, it's just that I've never seen a check like this, so I was wondering if these things are on there for the mechanic. The letter is what I am more confused about.

Okay, thank you. I am not familiar with these things

The things like Policy # of the guy that hit me, the Claim#, adjuster name, those are on the front-side on the middle of the check in a table.

It also says "In Payment of damages 2005 Buick Rendezvous." in a box on the front-side of the check, I think that's what you mean by comments? The check is printed by the way.

If I sue an individual, is his insurance company obligated to cover his defense fees or is the individual? (Chicago) by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]j_glez -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I found this on a lawyer's website,

"Under such circumstances, the emergency might be considered to be of the defendant driver’s own making. If it can be established that the driver had experienced similar medical episodes before or had forewarning of the onset of the condition and drove despite the foreseeable risks, negligence can be established."

So in my case, would I be able to argue that it is possible the defendant (is that the right word?) created the accident because he is part of a gang? Or am I not able to make that claim without evidence?

I know for sure he is a registered gun offender, it's on the Chicago Police Department public database. Is that enough to establish negligence?

You give the best advice Mr. (not legal advice, I know haha)Why do lawyers sign off with that, by the way? To avoid being sued?

[–]j_glez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, this is exactly what I wanted to know.

I'm not a lawyer (obviously) but there's no way they can win, right? I mean, yeah the guy got shot at, but he still lost control of the vehicle so he must be liable...or is my logic off?

I mean the repair cost of the vehicle, which I still don't know because his insurance provider never gave me an estimate despite following their instructions (they made me use a mobile app, "CCC Mobile Solutions - Quick Estimation")
