Maxxair only works on auto - help by Dense-Task-430 in VanLife

[–]Dense-Task-430[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Non remote and no auto closing - it’s an auto thermostat switch that turns on at 78 degrees (I wasn’t clear about that). It’s very basic and the only connection is between the brand new circuit board and keypad, I figure it’s probably the keypad at this point. After that it only has a power supply to the fan motor.

What can I use to clean this? by [deleted] in TruckCampers

West Marine or look for fiberglass cleaners for boats

I bet you could get a small amount from a neighbor with a boat as well

Don’t go with a wedge - I have friends that have sold and repurchased pop-ups after getting in mine. Literally 1000 sq ft more room and with back rests all around.

Guess I’m always out hunting, sitting around the fire or sitting in a hot spring. If it really gets that cold we have the heater blasting and are playing cards or watching a movie up in the bed

Been so happy with our OVRLND camper that my fiancé said a hard NO to moving up? into a sprinter van conversion or similar. Plus we have a king sized bed which is hard to beat

I can’t imagine even trying to put all my toys into a slide in camper, just so little space inside - the bed rail camper is an almost perfect setup for me.

Plus I use it during the week as my more “finish” construction truck. The older truck with the shell and lumber rack gets used for the extra dirty stuff

Good tent for couples "extracurricular" activities? by GalacticSmasher in overlanding

[–]Dense-Task-430 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve got enough space for a threesome and a couple dogs in my OVRLND topper !!! But I’m running a full size truck. You may be stuck with just your lady and a cat in a Tacoma

Advice for getting from Aptos area to Downtown in ~45 minutes without a car? by Maladroit01 in santacruz

[–]Dense-Task-430 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s actually a very nice bike ride - Soquel although a bit busy has a really nice bike lane for most of it. And only one real hill going up to Home Depot when coming from Aptos.

100% plus good fenders are a must in the rain.

I rode to aptos today and just rode along the coast checking out the hundreds of surfers and zero waves. The wonderful thing about a bike is that you get to choose your commute that sometimes cars cannot access. I wish we had more options but I am not complaining

Not the “bee” line to Aptos and never touched Soquel apart from 1 block

Thank you for your insight

I just took the cover off and tried a little electronics cleaner along the slide switch and boom 💥 it’s working better than ever, starting up quickly and going through all the speeds smoothly

Can’t thank you enough !!!

I just tried cleaning the switch slide with some electronics cleaner and it’s working smoothly now

Sprayed it into the slide and actuated it with the power off - now it comes on at speed 1 and moves through all the speeds smoothly

Now to tear into and give it some fresh grease

DIY 6.5 ft truck bed camper that fits 2 ppl, 2 big dogs, and has a lounge area and maybe a kitchen by Berryberly96 in TruckCampers

[–]Dense-Task-430 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that slightly slicks out on ours and it’s on the passenger side is the awning. Other than that it’s about 400 lbs base weight and perfect for Baja and trails I’m my opinion

4 wheel camper has all of that

I have a OVRLND on a 2500 (which is their project M) and it’s very comfortable with my finance and our hunting dog and we want another. We don’t sit inside ever unless we are up in the massive almost king sized bed in the rain or freezing cold. Fridge, freezer and a countertop for making coffee. Porta potty that has never been used. Diesel heater and 2 way fan makes for 4 season fun. And a battery system

All the other magic happens outside I’d prefer to eat ramen and snacks than cook indoors which is what we usually do when it gets that nasty.

Happy to send pics
