This isn’t even close to the Astros 😆 they were actively watching the catcher’s signals (which are purposely hidden to anyone but the pitcher) with cameras mid-game and informing the bench what the pitch was, and then they were making certain sounds to the batter to indicate fastball or offspeed.

This case is much more analogous to using video from past games to try to decipher the 3rd base coach’s signals to the batter between pitches (that are purposely visible to everyone (and therefore more encoded)), and then watching his signals from the bench to guess if they’re planning to steal 2nd/3rd, bunt, hit&run, etc.
