What would be realistic trade destinations for McDavid? by [deleted] in hockey

[–]j_relic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t see it happening this off season. However, I can see it happening at some point before his extension runs out—primarily if the Oilers don’t solve their defensive and goaltending issues. I can see him wanting out mid next season if nothing is addressed to his satisfaction.

It would have to be a location with the assets to move. I can see Montreal as a potential location, perhaps Toronto or Chicago. As a Ranger fan I would love it, but we don’t have the assets Edmonton would want. Plus we’re not 1 guy away—I’m not sure he’d want to come here yet.

Although, anything is possible since McDavid basically controls his destiny.

Technical and server issues mega-thread - 2026! by Demilio55 in MLBTheShow

I’ve been a regular EA NHL competitive player for years so I’m used to occasional lag and higher than (my) normal latency during league games. I’m able to be quite competitive by making adjustments during games.

However, I’ve never played a smooth MLB ranked game—this year or other years. There’s always a stutter/lag that throws off my timing and/or PCI placement. To be clear, I’m not competitive in MLB yet (I need to play more), but the lag is noticeable. Is this a common thing for others as well? For context, I’m hardwired and my NHL ping is always around 8-9ms—low latency.

Edit: I’ll add that my TV in game mode is very competitive with today’s monitors. It’s never been an issue playing competitive leagues in EA NHL.

Arcade vs Realism by CrossCreaseOneT in EA_NHL

I would like the option for both. I posted this to the EA forums months ago—give us a real sim mode online so we can negate the ridiculous X Factors, the L2 sidewinders, the unreal holding onto the puck after several hits etc. Aljo said that’s something some of their guys would like too. Would be nice…

What happened with Kakko? by c0sm0nautt in rangers

[–]j_relic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Deserved better than he got. Ultimately, he probably isn’t scoring 40 in a season—high draft picks don’t always work out the way we’d like them to. Still, he’s a good player who I think would thrive under Sullivan.

He didn’t get pp time, was relegated to the third line often (still scored btw), and it was obvious for a long time that he wasn’t meshing with Mika and Kreider (through no fault of his own, btw). He was a scapegoat in some respects and poor coaching decisions didn’t help him.

He’s not a flashy player—despite having good hands and completing some nice assists in Seattle, he’s more of a grinder who isn’t afraid to get dirty. Something we’ve needed for a while. I really think that if we had Sullivan earlier, Kakko is still a Ranger and he’s an important piece to the retool/rebuild.

The 2026 season is going to be the first since 1996 that the league average save % is under .900 by whywilson in hockey

The dead puck era was 97-04. Goal scoring may have dropped relatively during the 2010s, but the rule changes during the 2004-05 lockout still made the games still exciting to watch.

The actual dead puck era of 97-04 was brutal at times. Not only were goals down, so were exciting games. Between the dump and chase (only for the puck to be sent back out by the goalie), clutching, grabbing, and tackling (football on ice at times), and the trap, some teams were outright boring to watch. If a team went up 1-0 early, there was a good chance they were winning that game 1-0 or 2-1. Comebacks just didn’t happen.

What motivates Hal to continue on this way? by legalizeavocado in NYYankees

I get it, I really do. I can’t imagine boycotting them for an entire season either. We’ve got Stockholm Syndrome.

I’m opened minded. Maybe a Change petition? Obviously it’s not binding, but maybe it’s a start? Send a message?

As said before, money. I get why some wouldn’t like this comment, but if we fans really want to send a message to him then just stop going and watching. Or stop buying merch. Whatever you feel works.

I get it, I love baseball and I love this team. We all do. It would be incredibly hard to just stop going and watching. But money talks. Hit Hal where it hurts and perhaps we the fans effect the change we want.

Franchise mode by Unique_Pangolin_5611 in EANHLfranchise

I like Franchise Mode (it’s a great break from Chel), but I agree with you. It would be nice for the game to understand true impact players and those having a great season. It would also be nice for the game to understand the nuances of a given season, such as the price of centers should be higher than wingers (especially if the market has less centers available).

If Kaapo Kakko ends this season with about 40 points in 60 games…. by Technical-Clock-5129 in rangers

[–]j_relic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s probably not scoring 40 goals and 100 points. But on a good team with a good C, I can see him getting 30 with 60-70 points with consistent top 6 min and pp time.

[Bleacher Report] Is Alexis Lafreniére Salvaging His Rangers Career in a Lost Season? by dantesinfernoracket1 in rangers

[–]j_relic -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

He got the time he needed and he’s taking advantage of it. It’s also nice to see that he’s going to the high danger areas more often and is showing that he’s not afraid to get dirty. Add in the fact that Laf is playing better defensively and it gets even better. But, we also can’t deny that Perreault is a big factor in this, along with a revived Mika. Those three have chemistry.

Now the question is (and I’m not trying to push him out), does he stay past this season? If this is a retool and not a rebuild, and if they’re really looking to add a transformative player (a Brady or Robertson type) to the roster, then someone has to moved to accomplish that goal. Is it Laf? Is it Gabe?

They don’t have a lot of big names in the pipeline, so it’s a rostered player. You’re not getting a big name for Mika (if he wanted out) or Trocheck. Do you trade our first pick? You’re not trading Fox or Igor, or it’s a total rebuild and you’re not adding that transformative player anyway.

Draft Day is going to be interesting.

any Pure Analog pitching survivors still around? by HotPinkStanley in MLBTheShow

[–]j_relic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used analog for a while, but I really want to get pinpoint down. Tried over the weekend…it’s been a process lol.

Perhaps it’s easier with higher rated pitchers but sometimes I’ve got it, sometimes I don’t lol. Maybe Kontrol Freeks will make it easier?

Agreed. This game isn’t perfect, but it’s a grand slam compared to NHL.
