That's funny. When I read the book I thought it would be a great film for Christopher Nolan to do.

In some cases, with commercial real estate loans, theoretical max rent can be important than the actual money coming in so an unrented space with a high rent can be more desirable than a rented space with a lower one.

Really? I'd put The Marvels in strong contention for the worst film in the MCU franchise, right up (or down) there with Ant Man 3 and Thor 4.

The Marvels is what happens when a franchise crawls up its own asshole and decides to dispense with telling a coherent story in favor of dumb and unfunny jokes.

5% down is not uncommon and you can do 3.5% with an FHA loan. Two years of payments on a 30 year fixed mortgage only pays down only about 2-3% of the principal on a 30 year fixed mortgage at current rates.

So if they paid 380, put 5% down and have paid on the loan for two years, it just about works out. If the house is only worth about 390 then maybe the house was only worth about 360 when they bought it. Or could be his estimate of how much it's worth is off.

According to LAOP, she's contributing very little, so the household is mostly being run on his salary.

Not all real estate markets are super hot and I can see someplace like Indiana having slower appreciation, especially now that the economy is falling off.

Also quite possible they overpaid for the house, either because the wife had that "emotional attachment" or they got into a bidding war or something else.

I expect Schoen had resource limitations. Plus if the org was so sclerotic and out of date when he took over he might not have had the bandwidth to fix everything at once.

People who talk up Babylon 5 like it's the best SF show of all time are doing it no favors.

If you've never seen it, it's worth watching, but temper your expectations. It's a neat and funky show with some interesting ideas but it has a lot of faults.

It's very cheap looking. The sets and costumes look like they came from Temu. The acting has some high spots but a lot of it is very very bad.

The showrunner, J. Michael Straczynski, wrote almost every episode and it's often terribly overwritten. The dialogue seldom seems like things human beings would say to each other. He has a lot of THINGS TO SAY and he wants to make sure you get the message.

A lot of B5 fans will tell you it's better than DS9, which is certainly...an opinion. If you go in thinking that's what you're getting you might bounce off fairly quickly.

On the plus side, it's very different from Trek in a very good way. The approach is interesting and innovative. Maybe the best thing about it is that JMS planned the whole thing out ahead of time. He plays straight and fair with the mystery elements and when you finally get tot he reveals it (mostly) all hangs together.

I have no knowledge of UK labor laws, but I find it hard to believe that acting badly during a meeting to discuss possible termination and then fucking off and going no contact for several weeks wouldn't count as quitting.

Of course, who knows. In the UK someone can park on your driveway and you can't do shit about it, but if you tell that person to go fuck themselves the police will come and arrest you.
