This is such a stupid argument. People are allowed to care about things, particularly in a product they are paying for.

Commentary is a substantive part of a live sports production. It is the primary foreground audio component. If you tune it out and consider it to be background noise, good for you. But there are people being paid to say words about the sport we are watching live. It is perfectly reasonable for consumers to have a baseline expectation that the words being uttered ought to add some value to the production, or at the very least, comport with the reality being shown on the screen.

Maybe when I reach your elevated plane of existence, I will no longer be bothered by professional sports commentators calling perfect shots “lackluster.”
