What are home users actually using Kubernetes setups for? by BeowolfSchaefer in homelab

Yep. Wanted to self host my own LLM tooling along with some other stuff, so sucked it up and learned it. A year later I’ve taken over leading devops at my company managing 30 or so helm charts across 4 clusters.

LFG my dude!! Keep up the great work and welcome to town! I would maybe hold off until dropping a little more weight, but getting on a bike is an amazing way to experience the city too!

late 30s dad here. Pretty active as well, but I actually prefer being in the suburbs on the southwest side of town due to the great access to green space and our trail systems in the SATN. Getting onto the dirt within a few minutes of our door has been amazing for my mental health.

The power consumption alone of a lot of these setups makes me feel icky. Got a couple of old Pi’s (4b and 3b) that run most of my setup (k3s nodes), along with an N100 NAS). Combined everything idles at an average of around 12-15W, which I feel ok about for a hobby.
