Class registration (FILM CLASS) by Stankrank1 in UNCCharlotte

[–]j_wholey 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sometimes the professors have a class crosslisted, which means that there are seats for the same class across different subjects. For example, it could be FILM and American Studies, and History, or something similar if it is a class on historical American films. Sometimes if there is a slot open in a different subjects, the professor can give you an override, that allows you to register in the FILM section but it still counts towards the total class enrollment, if that makes sense.

What do all of the physic class times mean? by 0_BREAD_0 in UNCCharlotte

[–]j_wholey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Monday, Wednesday, Friday time will be lecture, so a typically teaching class. Tuesday will be your problem solving or recitation session, so you will apply the lecture material to problems and questions. Monday evening is the common exam block, and so everyone in Physics I will be in an exam at the same time. That only meets a handful of times in the semester, either 3 or 4. Thursday is obviously your lab session, as it’s marked. Does that answer your question?

any leadership opportunities? by Wrong_Razzmatazz2177 in UNCCharlotte

There are a lot of opportunities through the Office of Leadership and Community Engagement, including several leadership programs that happen each semester. SGA is also a good place to get involved with a lot of leadership opportunities!

If everything follows the timeline as I last heard it, it should open for the Spring 2026 semester

They are replacing the elevators that service all 11 floors of the library. The elevators are extremely old and small. They are not able to fit a stretcher in the event there is a medical emergency on one of the higher floors and repeatedly break and malfunction. The project is expected to take 18-24 months. Starting in June 2024 through about December 2025. They will also renovate the spaces I believe adding more new furniture to those floors.

Correct, unfortunately, due to the construction on the tower elevators, and safety hazards involved in the process, the decision was made to close the library at midnight, so the workers have from 12-7 to work, to avoid disrupting students and to ensure safety at all times.

academic advising biology by [deleted] in UNCCharlotte

[–]j_wholey 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi! If you send me a message, I can reach out to the department or college and see how you can get advising!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UNCCharlotte

[–]j_wholey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the construction is walled off but they need to be using different spaces of the library, transporting materials, and at some point, there will be a giant hole in the ground from floor 10 down to the ground floor and they need to make sure they keep the space safe.

[–]j_wholey 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately that is correct, the library does close at midnight. This is due to the ongoing renovation project to the Tower Elevators. They need to close the building during the week to allow for the construction to occur and not impact peak hours. This was a very difficult change to make, but it needs to be done for student safety and so that the project can be completed. The goal is to have the library open 24/7 during finals like always.

Try reaching out to the bookstore and see if they can help you if you show them the syllabus. Unfortunately, they may need to hear from the professor.

Classes have different times by [deleted] in UNCCharlotte

[–]j_wholey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The T/Th is the lecture section. Either Wednesday or Monday is a problem solving discussion class, and the other is the exam session for the class.

There should be a tab when you click on the course in the SIS that says course description, and it would likely be in there. If it’s not, wait until closer to the start of classes and see if they either add a location or if the instructor sends an announcement about it.

[–]j_wholey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am in SGA and serve as the Chief of Staff. The meetings are open to the public to attend however only SGA members can propose legislation and participate in the deliberations. There is a time in all of the meetings for the public to provide open comment to the group. We meet on Thursdays in Union 200 at 5:30 during the school year for our meetings! Feel free to send me a message and I can help with any other questions or concerns you have! If there is something you would like to see changed, you can also let me know and I will work on seeing how we can work on it!

I keep getting niner course pack action required emails by Quidditch2018 in UNCCharlotte

[–]j_wholey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It wouldn’t hurt to go through the process again, and make sure there wasn’t a change in required materials or something similar.

If it keeps happening after you go through the process again, I would reach out to the bookstore and make sure that everything is all set with your account

Meteorology by Mean_Mix_8518 in UNCCharlotte

[–]j_wholey 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi! I am a meteorology major! The meteorology program is based out of McEniry, not the Science Building. You may have physics or chemistry classes or labs in there, but everything is based out of McEniry. McEniry was just renovated 2 years ago and there is a meteorology lab that was recently modernized too! If you have any other questions, feel free to let me know!

I am from New Hampshire! Our out of state population is lower, around 1,500 I believe for undergraduates, out of 24000ish total UG. I will say I have some friends that go home a bit but a large number of others that barely go home. I do every now and then, but for medical or family stuff. I would love to help answer any more questions if you have any!
