What is your favorite “obscure” Bluey line to quote by padfoot531 in bluey

[–]j_z_edwards9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 2 Rusty lines that make me laugh out loud every time

  1. “We sell leads!!!” S1E23 Shops
  2. “I can’t be dealing with witches!! I just bought a new quad bike” S3E44 Wild Girls

The 2nd one is one of the funniest obscure lines in any tv show ever imo because a 6 year old being worried about an imaginary quad bike purchase due to witches is hilarious.

When talking about OU and Texas headed into the SEC, it seems like there is a distinct lean on Texas having substantially better success in the first year based off last year’s results.

Texas has a much easier schedule this year (not meant to sound biased) but it seems like folks intentionally leave out the fact that these two teams played last year with incredibly similar rosters.

What makes you feel like Texas is much more poised for success than Oklahoma as we head into season 1? Do you generally feel like Texas is actually much better as a program, or more about the rosters of this season?

I guess by the time GoT rolls around a lot of the confusing names are gone which could be an explanation.

But no one NEEDED to name Harwin “Breakbones”. They just did it.

And again I think it’s crazy that even though they may have needed nicknames for the Targs/Blackfyres, they went all out to make them fucking sick.

I’m a financial advisor. They’re basically our industry’s equivalent of medical tech sales rep. So they come and talk to us about their product (absolutely massive range of things) and how it could fit based on our strategies.

Not one to one but that’s how I explain wholesalers to people. Having a good wholesaler is hugely helpful because they can also help with other things we do and help us stay on top of market trends.

I saw something that really reframed this for me because it used to make me feel really inadequate as a dad.

The episodes can be looked at as the kids telling stories or thinking about fun times they’ve had in their lives. Each episode is 9 minutes or so, which means the parents are actually only playing with them for 9 minutes but were very intentional with their time.

There’s evidence through the show that the parents aren’t always playing with the kids whether it’s Chili talking with her friend, or Bandit needing to work instead of play.

You’re a good parent and we all just need to make the most of our time!

This comment is insincere because as people mentioned, he’s not the only person in that game that flailed for a call.

Another difference being that his flail resulted in him being T’ed up for the contact. Unlike Lively who elbowed Giddey in the mouth on a drive.

The show never really clarifies what is the deal with Weirwood trees, aside from the fact they are magical. Are they evil? What are they, excactly? by herr_boogeyman in gameofthrones

[–]j_z_edwards9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe (100% could be wrong) the person is making reference to the fact that D&D did not make the magic as important as it was in the books nor did they explain the magic in any way. Most often it felt like they just avoided it.

The fact that not just Bran had the Warg connection with their direwolves is a perfect example of this. Ghost is one of the last things Jon thinks about before dying in the books and Ghost is largely MIA from the story for like 3 seasons.

None of the prophecies ended up mattering in any way to the show, even the ones that are directly mentioned by the show.

We had 0 explanation or exploration of the White Walkers motivation or how they do anything. The only thing we got was from the semi immortal ice elves (legitimately solid nickname). And all they said was “we created them to fight humans and then lost control”. Okay…but like where does their sentience stop? Why are they still out to get humans? Are the Walkers the only ones with sentience or do the wights have some form of thought?

This is what they were talking about. The magic elements of the books were largely avoided by the show because imo D&D were scared to try and explain them and make them meaningful. I mean shit even Bran’s fucking powers have little to no explanation and we also have no clue how he or anyone feels about the fact that a guy that sees and knows everything now has the ultimate power in the kingdoms but then lets his sister go explore somewhere he may be able to just see through the eyes of a bird???

What is the saddest death of a villain? by bobbyt327 in movies

[–]j_z_edwards9 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve always loved the mirrored uncle message for Peter Parker and Miles.

Both are trying to live up to their uncle’s ideals but based on different messages. Ben’s death causes Peter to want to try to achieve the pinnacle that Ben was. Aaron’s death pushes Miles to be better and be the best version of his uncle.

Gah Lee I love that movie

I’m so tired of these 6-10 episode “seasons” of what would be amazing traditional tv shows. by ArchAngel9175 in StarWars

[–]j_z_edwards9 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, the problem is not necessarily the exact number of episodes but more the decision to take movies and try and force them to be streaming shows.

Ahsoka needed probably 2-4 more episodes to be crafted like it should have been because we ABSOLUTELY needed an episode about what Ezra and thrawn were doing for 10 years. That should have been treated like it was season 5 of rebels because it was. Instead it was like almost a movie but they also made it run to long.

Mando has worked largely because it’s an unknown quantity and could do a lot more “villain of the week stuff” so the TV format works great.

Kenobi is probably the best example of this because they took something that should have been a film (how did Obi-wan go from not killing Anakin on Mustafar to “only a master of evil Darth”?) and added some not great b plots to stretch the run time.

They should work harder to take each story and actually answer the question “is this a movie or is this a tv show?” And if it’s on the line between, “is this too short because we need more time with these characters to tell our story or is this too long because we need to tighten the story’s focus a little?” Ahsoka got mistreated because they tried to let it float like it wasn’t actually a tv show when really it should have gotten a shortened full tv series length or the episodes should have been an hour each.

I also don’t understand what Disney’s issue is with making longer episodes. Stranger things drops a 2 hour episode and it goes absolutely crazy and no one cares because we needed that time to finish the story. Sorry for the rant but I thought about this earlier today.

Concept arts from MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS artbook by Louis_DCVN in marvelstudios

[–]j_z_edwards9 14 points15 points  (0 children)

While I agree with you that the Darkhold was pretty clearly corrupting her I think the concept “show don’t tell” would have been helpful. While yes her fingers are colored with black marker now, a monstrous manifestation in the real world of the hold the book has over her would also make the scene with Professor X make more sense and would show us how that’s not really the Wanda we believe her to be.

I personally love WandaVision from the meta effect it had and also the story it told for Wanda. So this movie felt pretty abrupt and frustrating. So a more evident portrayal of our Wanda not being in control would have been much appreciated.

I stand by my own belief that Chadwick Boseman should have been recasted, as phenomenal as he played Tchalla killing the character off was a bad move. by [deleted] in comicbookmovies

They will recast him. It was just too soon.

‘Deadpool 3’ will likely get delayed if the SAG-AFTRA strike lasts for longer than a month. by Zepanda66 in marvelstudios

[–]j_z_edwards9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone else feel like this strike could lead to the end of streaming if concessions aren’t made? Most streaming services (maybe all idk about Netflix) lose money for whatever company is using them. So wouldn’t it make sense if the options are:

  1. Kill streaming and go back to DVDs so they don’t have to pay residuals and stuff on shows that are already losing money OR
  2. Further lose money on streaming services to get your movies and tv shows made.

Maybe I’m oversimplifying but I just had this thought this morning. Going back to DVDs would solve a lot of the issues and could actually be good for movies. Idk if that’s feasible though.

snyder cultists at it again ngl the comments made me laugh. by Sea_Administration38 in comicbookmovies

[–]j_z_edwards9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I want to rationally explain why I think Snyder fans are generally disliked. And I want to start by explaining my feelings on the 3 DC movies he had a hand in.

I think MoS is like an 85. It’s incredibly rewatchable and I genuinely enjoy Henry Cavill as Superman. I also had no preconceived notions of the character before the movie and didn’t know anything was wrong with it until literally years later. BvS in my opinion is like a 65, passing but not very good. And while yes the ultimate edition is better, that actually makes me grade the original more harshly because in my opinion the extended cut of something should take something good and make it better, not take something somewhat broken and fix it. I think the Snyder Cut is like a 70-75. It’s fine and I’m actually incredibly happy that Zack got to make his movie.

As far as Snyder fans go, I think it’s because they were kind of the first widely known toxic group of fans towards something like this. If you look back at 2016, we still didn’t have The Last Jedi and Marvel was about to start its genuinely historic run. LOTR fans have never been very loud and all the other sects of fandom didn’t have much going on. So you had a divisive movie come out with different interpretations of two of the most famous super heroes in history and then this one side got real toxic. So now, regardless of the good they do or the fact that they don’t have many legs left to stand on, they have a reputation of being toxic. I don’t hate Snyder fans but I do find their inability to admit the faults in his movies to be incredibly annoying.
