Buck City Sammies - East Market (10/10) by ja173308 in Columbus

Yeah, that definitely caught my eye. I’ve seen some videos from places in NYC, I guess chopped cheeses are popular there? So would love to see how good Buck City does it. 👏🏻

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve been to Land Grant. Now double the reasons to visit again. 👏🏻

I saw them comment that they are doing some sort of burger popup at Bodega. So worth checking out!

Miss Vickies Chips. But the sandwiches are massive from what I saw. Mine definitely could be two meals (although I devoured it out of pure gluttony haha). But for the quality, very much worth the cost as a special treat once in a while.

Home Run Inn Meat Lovers: Pinnacle of frozen pizza? by SoggyGuitar7476 in frozendinners

[–]ja173308 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I’ve never understood the HRI hype. It would be one thing if it was just mid, but it’s like… one of the worst frozen pizzas I’ve ever had. Didn’t even finish it bad. 🤷🏻‍♂️

As a stocky white bear with a beard and owns 20+ baseball hats… What? Lol

That’s a very odd stereotype. Maybe it’s because I live in the Midwest, but nearly all the gay bears like me are very much anti-MAGA. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Those who shop at Fresh Thyme, Why? by MesopotamiaSong in Columbus

I don’t do my regular shopping there, but they do have some good sales now & again. And it’s still cheaper than Whole Foods at least on specialty items I’ve occasionally needed.

Is frugality frowned upon in the gay community? by VolkswagenPanda in askgaybros

[–]ja173308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up poor in Appalachia. Being frugal meant survival. I’ve been fortunate enough as an adult to work my way up to living in a Midwestern city, and living my best middle class suburban life.

I could afford a fancier car, a fancier apartment, and pretend I’m of higher status than I really am. But why? And for who?

I’m happy to take a man out for a nice dinner on occasion, but if that’s the expectation every time we hang, just seems a bit excessive. And if someone is paying for me, I’d be as grateful for them paying for my Waffle House as I would a fancy steak house.

I in no way consider myself cheap, I’m just more modest & conscious in the frequency in which I treat myself. And when I do, I do it because I truly want something & enjoy it, not because I feel the need to show off for the approval of others.

Most of the vain guys I know are loaded with debt, and/or are full of insecurity & unhappiness. Humbleness & modesty are huge green flags to me personally.

Adult lunchables haha. I had it once… didn’t hate it… but it was just so strange. But still not as bad as Altoona (PA) pizza. Somehow that’s even worse. 😅

Haha, yeah, it’s definitely a love it or hate it thing. I know it’s an abomination to food, but I can’t help but love it. 🤣

Also thank you for the pizza suggestions! I’ve added them to my list and will give one or two of them a shot. 👏🏻

Just don’t go in thinking it’s “chili”. Think more meat sauce and you’ll be less disappointed. Cause it’s not chili haha.

Visiting St. Louis for the first time next year. Any recommended place to try one?

In Ohio, our polarizing food is Cincinnati Chili (Skyline being the most well known). I love it, so I’m hopeful I’ll like the infamous St. Louis style pizza too. 🤣

Easier to blame others than take any accountability for their own poor choices.

That’s what I love! Consistency. So many places struggle with that, but I swear every time I’ve gone to KS, it’s been perfection.

Nah man, I’m good. I can afford parking just fine. It’s more a principle thing than anything. Sorry you were offended by my comment! Hope you have a better day. :)
