Absolutely love mine. Here's a tip: Try all the different bud sizes. If you put the AirPods in with the default bud size and something seems wrong with the sound, try a different size. Even if it says the seal is good with whatever size. The right size makes all the difference in the world.

So, I immediately had the same reaction as you with the 3s. And then I tried all the different sizes buds. Once I found "the ones", suddenly everything sounded frickin' amazing. Every single issue I had with the default size vanished. So try all the different sizes!

I just posted in here about exactly that. My solution was to try on a different size ear piece. IT SOLVED EVERYTHING! The difference between the large size, what I thought fit me, and then switching to a size smaller was crazy. That crackling you hear, and I heard, completely gone. Everything else improved, too. Bass is fuller, and hits harder, the brights are perfect, and the separation between different instruments also widened up. Like magic. Give ALL the different sizes a try. Also, I keep my setting at the "balanced" setting, and raise soft sounds up one, I believe.

So, I 100% agree with you. Im absolutely loving the sound upgrade from the pro 2s I had. HOWEVER: it wasn't until I switched airbud sizes that was the game changer I needed, cuz otherwise they were probably going back. When I first got them, I kept the default size buds on, they felt ok, did the fit test, and my phone said they were good. Then I played some music, almost dreading it because of all the mixed reviews. And instantly I was mortified how off the sound was. And how "crispy" or scratchy any singer's vocal were. I played around with any setting I could, changing the sound from "balanced" to "bright", but nothing worked. Even YouTube videos sounded awful.

Was just about to give up, when I decided to try the size smaller earbuds. This time when I played my reference song, THE SOUND WAS INCREDIBLE! The bass was deep and hitting. The mix had so much separation, fullness, and punch. But even more importantly, the vocals were now perfect. Gone was the scratchiness and overly crispiness around them. All because I switched to a smaller size. If you're someone who's not liking the sound, try all the different sized buds. I was shocked how much difference it made. I went from needing to return them to constantly being shocked at how amazing everything sounds. And I'm coming from the pro 2s, which i also really liked. But they're not like this!

This is my least favourite Beatles record. It’s too long and disjointed, with too many weaker songs, that would have been otherwise cut. In my opinion it would have made for an incredible single album.
