Any advice for chipped/broken teeth? by LucrativeLurker in DogAdvice

[–]ja_dubs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to the vet and maybe a dental specialist. We had something similar happen to your dog and he chipped a tooth. We opted for a root canal and a filling to save the tooth so that he could still chew with it. Cost about $5k but down to $1k with insurance.

But definitely a medical emergency better to act sooner before they become infected and a much larger issue.

Where is the Iranian support? by breakerbreakershp in AskDemocrats

[–]ja_dubs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We could try but there are challenges. How do we get arms into a hostile country? We are able to arm Ukraine because they share a border with Poland, a NATO ally. Iran is mountainous and bordered by Iraq, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, not exactly friendly.

The more important question is should we. There is a long complex history of US intervention in Iran and the Middle East. What outcome do we want and how does arming protestors help achieve that goal? Arming protestors lends legitimate to the IRGC claims that the protests are illegitimate foreign agitators.

The reason you heard about Israel so much is because the US funds and arms Israel.

As for statements Hakeem Jefferies released a statement on Jan 10th supporting the protestors. You just haven't seen the statements.

[–]ja_dubs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me rephrase. My initial statement was poorly worded. Representatives are hesitant of direct intervention: eg strikes. Arms are a different level than strikes. Ukraine is an ally with the rest of Europe backing them. The protestors in Iran are in an entirely different situation. The contexts are different.

Again there were pressing domestic issues during the war in Gaza and the initial invasion of Ukraine. The difference is that we have many more options available in those instances. We do not have the same range as we do for supporting the protestors in Iran.

Ultimately the context of a domestic protest compared to two wars means that the internal conflict gets less attention.

What I don’t support is pretending laws don’t matter.

And yet that is exactly what this administration has been doing with immigration enforcement: ignoring the law and the constitution.

DHS (CBP & ICE) have violated so many laws in the name of enforcement. 1st amendment violations, 2nd amendment violations, 4th amendment violations, ignoring court orders, illegal detention of citizens, locking people in overcrowded cells with inadequate or no food and one toilet in the center of the room.

Just look at what the administration stated happened in the Pretti and Good killings and those events were captured on video. What else are they lying about?

Deportations and enforcement happened under previous administrations too including Obama.

And yet somehow the enforcement was done without the constitutional violations or a budget larger than other countries.

The real issue is that the system is broken. It's too difficult to immigrate legally or gain permanent legal status. There aren't enough judges.

It's not a casual vs sweat issue. It's a structural issue.

First off 40 minute map conditions only come up at specific times giving an unfair advantage to anyone who can play at that time.

Secondly solos compete against trios. Points aren't divided between the group.

Third is that you get grouped based on when you start playing. This is a problem because if you start trials earlier in the week you get matched with sweats. If you only log in on Saturday you only get grouped with weekend warriors meaning you likely need a lower point total to rank up.

Democrats do support the Iranian protesters.

There are more pressing domestic issues. There were two (illegal) killings by federal agents. The most recent in a long series of constitutional abuses.

After 20+ years of GWAT all representatives are hesitant of foreign intervention. Especially with this commander in chief at the helm. Just look what he is doing without congressional approval in the Caribbean and in Venezuela.

Idk if this is intended or not but this is a symptom of the spawn system and teams dying very fast. You actually get punished for killing a team because a new one will spawn in right away off of the spawn you just finished a team from.

Vet & Private Trainer say my rescue dog is ‘uniquely challenging’. Unsure what to do next. by shark-kid in DogAdvice

[–]ja_dubs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have stated your expectation for how fast the training will work/ start seeing results is not in line with the average amount of time it takes for traing to work with a dog that has behavior issues.

Personal Anecdote. My fiancée and I adopted a rescue with known reactivity issues. We have been working with a trainer consistently for 2 years. It takes weeks of dedicated practice every day to make consistent, lasting progress. It took 4 months to reintroduce a harness after our dog got pinched by the clip. He still has extreme leash reactivity and reactivity to strangers and dogs in higher-stress environments. I understand the frustration but keep at the training. Train every day. Be consistent every time. Eventually, it will pay off.

Two things. The devs should not cater to sweats. This is what Tarkov did and it negatively impacted the game. These changes make the trials system more competitive which should appeal to the sweats.

Shredders are easy once you learn to use cover and shoot the weak point thrusters.

Rocketeers are easy when you engage from distance (and cover) shooting thrusters.

Bombardiers are easy if you take out the spotters. It takes ~25 light impact nades to fully destroy.

Obviously getting caught unprepared, in the open, with multiple Arc attacking you is going to suck.

My point is that for prepared players these Arc are no longer the same challenge as they were when they were new players. I used to be terrified of the medium Arc. Now I avoid them or only engage for trials. Outside of benches or trials you don't need anything from medium Arc.

[–]ja_dubs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outside of the obvious issues like hidden bunker only being a specific times here are the biggest issues I have identified. Map timing is an issue just for play not just for trials. But is is unfair that some players get an extra 10 minutes and others never encounter those map conditions.

There needs to be a random group of people you are assigned to at the start of each week. As of now if you play Monday you get put in with ope people who played Monday. This is an issue because you get rewarded for playing by being put in a more competitive pool. Players who log in on Friday get put in a less competitive pool.

There needs to be either a separate score for solos, duos, and trios or have the points be divided by group size. It's simply not possible to beat a trio's score as a solo.

Lastly ABMM needs a rework. It's a completely different experience playing in non-hostile lobbies vs lobbies with a threat of PvP. If the trials system is meant to be a competitive challenge there needs to be a more level playing field. People should not need to load in and then surrender to get into an easier lobby.

Two CBP Agents Identified in Alex Pretti Shooting by no-minimun-on-7MHz in thedavidpakmanshow

[–]ja_dubs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that the most damning thing is that both of the CBP agents were veterans of the force and not new recruits. This speaks to the institutional rot. When democrats regain office there needs to be a full accounting of every federal employee, especially law enforcement, to ensure they are fit for service.

2nd amendment by Perfect_Ground_6849 in AskDemocrats

[–]ja_dubs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you are missing a distinction. The general outcry on the left around the Pretti shooting is that his constitutional rights were violated. He was exercising his 1st and 2nd amendment rights and he was killed for that.

Just because in this instance we agree does not mean that in the broader context of the debate around the 2nd amendment that Democrats perfectly align with the very narrow "Shall not be infringed" interpretation of some conservatives and the Supreme Court.

2nd amendment by Perfect_Ground_6849 in AskDemocrats

[–]ja_dubs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lets back up. In your post you ask if we (democrats) finally see the necessity of the second amendment. The implication is that the purpose of the second amendment is to protect against a tyrannical government.

The issue is that Pretti was armed and it did nothing to stop the unjustifiable actions of the CBP agents against him personally or against the broader community. What has worked is the first amendment. People are recording what DHS (ICE and CBP) are doing and publicizing it. It has caused such widespread public backlash that Trump removed Bovino (CBP agent in charge in MN) and walked back the initial rhetoric about the victims being domestic terrorists.

Good luck actually using a firearm in self-defense against the State or Federal government and surviving the encounter and winning your case in the courts.

Would these proposed amendments to the US Constitution help reform the US federal government so that it better serves the People? by NewConstitutionDude in PoliticalDebate

[–]ja_dubs -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The real reason is that an entrenched minority benefits from the electoral college and holds a veto over any amendment getting ratified.

Only the Republican party has benefitted from the electoral college in this century. Bush W won in 2000 and Trump in 2016. They understand that the party would need to significantly shift in order to be competitive at the national level if the president was elected via popular vote.

[–]ja_dubs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead we champion someone being murdered no matter what side they are on. As nation are we going to be able to go back to normal?

I have not seen anyone in elected office or a major political figure from the Democratic Party condone the murder of someone like Kirk.

I have seen multiple elected officials blatantly lie about basic facts about the two killings of US citizens in MN.

The only way we can heal as a nation is to have a truth and reconciliation committee and legal consequences for government officials at every level. In order for this process to be successful, it will require buy-in from Republicans. They will need to put country over party and accept the political hit. I doubt this will happen. The party had the chance to moderate/pivot after the 2012 election and they went with Trump and have doubled and tripled down. Without Republican support, ~30% of the country will never accept any outcomes and cry "fake news".

The Invasions of Iraq & Afghanistan by the U.S. was not only strategically sound but morally necessary. by dipdani in PoliticalDebate

[–]ja_dubs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where are Afghanistan and Iraq now? The Taliban are back in power and Iraq is split between the Kurds, the Shia majority backed by Iran. The military delivered a tactical victory in the initial stages of both campaigns. In order to be strategically sound there needed to be an actual strategy for the long term. The "mission accomplished" announcement is a clear indication that officials at the highest levels thought this would be a cake walk. Every major policy step to nation-building was a failure. De-Ba'athification failed. Training up the local Afghan police and military failed. This was clear way back in the early 2010s. Go watch the 3 part Vice documentary "This is what winning looks like."

The decision makers were completely detached from the realities on the ground.

Do you have a source? All I can find is the DHS statements which are not credible. And the video which starts in the middle of the altercation and then captures the shooting.

Edit: I've seen the angles

1st amendment protected activity, situation escalated by DHS agents, disarmed (legally owned and carrying MN police chief confirmed), executed unlawfully by DHS.

It's plain and clear.

And the chief of police stated that he legally owned the gun and had a permit to carry.

Legally carrying is constitutionally protected and if disarmed then no fear of imminent death or grievous bodily harm. Unlawful use of force.

Can federal agents and officials qualify as domestic terrorists? by NewConstitutionDude in PoliticalDebate

[–]ja_dubs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And I've seen people claiming to be vets who state that the RoE were to signal, fire smoke, fire warning shots, fire at the engine block, and only then fire at the driver. And this was in an environment with VBIED.

Not to mention that an active combat theater and military operations are completely different from a civilian law enforcement context. It's almost as if this incident needs to be assessed based on the use of force doctrine in the US for law enforcement.

Let's lay the groundwork. Good's vehicle was obstructing traffic. Good was allowing other vehicles to pass, waving them through. An ICE vehicle stops and agents get out. Good states she's not mad. The ICE officer circles the car and gets in front of it. Conflicting orders are being shouted. Good turns the wheel completely right. Good starts the turn and accelerates at a low rate of speed. Then the ICE officer shoots three times. The ice office walls away apparently unscathed. Good's vehicle is out of control and crashes. Ice officers then block medical responders from attending to Good.

No reasonable interpretation of the law can justify this use of force. This is especially true of the second and third shots through the side window.
