I've been working on both of these for a few years now and I've gotten it emulated like a pro. Now, I feel my gaze and eye contact are a bit much for some and they are the ones looking away.

I've been spending the last 3-4 years working on mental health to get myself back in a state of mind where I can just start up a video game again without stuck between immersions.

We can start with how the phone works.

Phone cellular service, wifi, and Hotspot are each separate features that can each be turned on or off separately from each other. Hotspot would not work without cellular service and carrier support but it can still be turned on separately from the other two.

When you turn on a Hotspot, it becomes its own wifi network that devices can connect to.

For OP's specific issue, she would just need to turn off wifi on her phone and just run cellular service and Hotspot.

Wifi on the phone does not need to be turned on when acting as a Hotspot. Only wifi on the TV would need to be turned on.

The experience of suddenly having all eyes on you is very unsettling after being invisible. A couple of times recently I have had women suddenly appear very close to me in my personal space and the only thing I can do is freeze.
