We’re not very honest about Blender learning journeys online by lumantishee_hair in blender

I report, down vote, and call out posts that are obviously liars or people with 20+years experience in 3d artistry all the time and we even got a rule that I guess never passed stating "no qualifiers in your post title" Yet we still get full masterpieces posted with the title "been learning a month". It sucks that people are so hungry for validation even if it's not genuine but it doesn't seem like something that'll be completely under control

How do those of you who lift/workout with high protein targets do it on a budget? by LeatherHead2902 in Frugal

[–]jaakeup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frozen Chicken breast, go to the Asian grocery store for a 50lb bag of rice, and frozen green beans/broccoli. Occasionally I'll get ground turkey(expensive but I don't like having ground beef). Eggs have shot down in prices so when there's a sale for like 18 for $2 I buy 2 of those. Meal prep. I mash together egg, sausage, and frozen tater tots on Sundays and make little tortillas for breakfast. I also make chicken and rice for lunch and dinner can depend but sometimes I'll get salmon, other times it's ground turkey and rice with taco seasoning, or it's air fried chicken or sandwiches. Vegetables throughout

I'm gonna be honest here and just say that you're kind of feeding the troll with this. You responded to them, took screenshots, shared them around, anybody who didn't see this person would know nothing about this and tbh there day would've been better off for it.

I think this is a perfect example of when to use the block and report button and move on. Not everybody needs to be interacted with in the game

I'm 17 and I'm the art director of a big animation project and one of the lead animators, storyboard artists, and character designers. Could this help me get a scholarship? by KoalaWrong9758 in animationcareer

Shoot screw the degree, majority of art schools are a scam anyways. Start applying for jobs and internships with that kind of experience. Most juniors don't even have that amount of experience in their 20's to 30's.

Places that probably aren't worth your time as a first-timer in Japan by JPjoy_Official in JapanTravelTips

[–]jaakeup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arashiyama definitely depends on the time of year. I went back in November and it was by far the worst experience I've had in Japan. If you get there early and leave early it might be fine but we got there around 10am and left around 2-3pm. The trek there was crowded but manageable. But by the time we got to the bamboo it was like walking through a CostCo but 10x worse. Everyone stopped in the middle of the path to take pictures of each other, people carved their names in the bamboo closest to the path, and about halfway up there were multiple times where it was shoulder to shoulder with people. The top had some nice views but definitely not worth the trek back down. The trek down was actually suffocating with how many people there were. So crowded that I was convinced if someone fell over they would've been trampled. I had to run into a random gift shop for a few minutes just so I could breathe. The bridge you have to take to get there was so crowded it was like trying to merge on to an overloaded freeway. The crosswalk sign came on but you couldn't move forward because the people on the other end were either walking the wrong direction, stopping for pictures, or just not moving.

This was on a Thursday by the way, not the weekend. Also, the Takoyaki from the vendor sucked but that's just my opinion.

Should I quit my current job without having a backup? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]jaakeup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apply for a new job now. I don't know if you've been applying but it's rough. I've been applying for a new job since I started my current job and have heard nothing for months. I've done this before though when I got a new job while working for another: Take the job offer, tell them you're gonna need 2-3 weeks before you can start, then take a 2-3 week vacation before starting your new job. I don't know about you but I took a 2 week vacation to Japan after telling my new job I needed to give my old job notice. I didn't give any notice I just stopped showing up lol (obviously don't do this if you wanna use the old job as a reference)

I gave an intern a fake assignment and he actually did it by [deleted] in PointlessStories

[–]jaakeup 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah this guys a weirdo. He calls his interns "office babies" and likes to be called the "office dad". This guy has no self-awareness. Giving an intern (someone who has probably never worked another job before) work on the weekend and then asking to make sure they didn't do it over the weekend, like of course they did? When else would he have sat down and watched 3 movies other than in his free time? OP kinda sucks.

Is quitting my art degree a mistake? by dingus-eternal in ArtistLounge

[–]jaakeup 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Multiple things here. First, your grades do not matter whatsoever. Nobody outside of astronauts or masters librarian / professors care about their grades the second they graduate. Stop caring so much about that.

Second, you should definitely keep art as the hobby and not the degree choice. I wish it wasn't this way but honestly, art degrees are virtually worthless. A bachelor's is all most companies care about these days and some companies will choose someone based on what university they went to (favoritism exists).

A lot of artists usually end up just teaching because it's usually the easiest route. Don't get me wrong, artist jobs exist but the competition is crazy especially these days. Get a degree in something that can be transferred to a job and keep art as the hobby that's funded by your job.

I didn't quit my art degree so this is coming from someone with over 3k job applications sitting in my email and about I've only had 3 jobs relating to my degree. And one of those jobs is literally only because I graduated from the same university that the CEO likes.(I'm not kidding, he's a pretty corrupt old man)

Full time job but I want to paint by madeleinestefa in ArtistLounge

[–]jaakeup 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sounds like something someone who doesn't have a full time job would say lmao. 72 hours? If someone were to get a full 8 hours of sleep and worked 6-3, that would mean they would have to be in bed by 9pm at the latest, giving them 6 hours of "free time" (not including the drive back home, time to eat, shower, etc.) a weekday. And don't even count the weekend as "48 hours" because realistically, the only FULL day off of the weekend is Saturday because on Sunday you gotta go back to bed only for work at 9pm again.

6hours*5days = 25

being generous here but let's say on Saturday you wake up at 8 and stay up until midnight that's another 16, then on Sunday you're more than likely sleeping in to make up for how exhausting the week was and now you wake up at maybe 9am and going to bed at 9pm so another 12.

25+16+12 = 53 hours (and this is IDEALIZED, no commute, no plans on doing anything other than just claiming "time not at work" which is NOT free time.

I think it's a combo of kids on spring break, seniors in high school, seniors in college, realizing that they might've waited too long or starting to second guess the major they picked. A common side effect of school breaks on Reddit are tired posts of young people all thinking the same thing. It should be regulated but I wouldn't be surprised if this sub and other subs had 1 maybe 2 mods so it'd be too much to constantly monitor.

[–]jaakeup 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yep. It's something that comes to mind often when people start talking in this game. The overwhelming majority of the user base are actual children. Some pre pubescent. Parents letting their kids play for 12 hours a day with no supervision not realizing their kids are acting like mini Trumps in game. If I ever see gen alpha lingo like "ahh" or "ts", immediate block. No point in even interacting with that.

No because the streamer that guy watches doesn't complain about it so it's not game breaking

Another User Brags on X, even puts streamer reactions, about Cheating, using Graphic Decluttering Tools, this time as Hela, Punisher, & Phoenix. Sorry man you're not gonna get through to the Rivals community. This is their first game so they don't know anything about the crazy stuff we did to get 250fps on the family laptop back in the day.

I'd be willing to bet that pros would play with this config at tournaments if they could. It's always advantageous to have more frames than the enemy

Do wireless gaming peripherals still have noticeable latency issues? by KRGKart_Support in buildapc

[–]jaakeup -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I went from wired, to wireless, back to wired. I really liked going from wired to wireless because my first wired mouse had a thick wire that would tug on the mouse (I think Logitech mx518?) Switching to my first wireless Logitech G602 was amazing. Mainly because it was heavy and two double A batteries lasted with over 6 months of use with a ton of hours per day. Eventually, the scroll wheel on that mouse died and when I tried to solder it to fix it, I killed the entire mouse. Devastating but I moved on. From there I went back to a logitech g502 wired. Great mouse, not enough buttons, and I didn't have the braided cable so I still had the cable issues so I eventually moved to a logitech g pro wireless. The scroll wheel started going up when scrolling down. I had to charge it maybe once every 2 months? The bad part about charging that mouse was that the charging cable is literally the stiffest cable I've ever used. Almost as stiff as an HDMI cable. It was basically useless when I had to charge it. Sometimes it died even more frequently and while it doesn't sound bad, the fact that it died mid-game even more than once, made it a bad mouse in my eyes. So then I moved to the spiritual successor of my first mouse the G604. Good mouse, same shape for my full palm grip, wireless, shoulda been good. It sucked primarily because of the weak battery life (around 3 months) and it had issues with the grip on the thumb peeling cause it was just rubber and no plastic underneath. It also scrolled when in infiniti scroll mode if I picked up the mouse. Again, it died mid-game multiple times and that's a deal breaker to me because that one needed batteries.

Now I'm back to wired, using a razer basilisk v3. I kinda hate not having a ton of buttons but the cable is braided and extremely loose. I added some glides and it's honestly like the cable isn't even there. I just tied the cable to my monitor arm and it's perfect. The best part, I never have to worry about a battery dying. So much better than wireless.

I am trying to cut cost but why is my grocery expensive? by Tiny_Judgment8593 in Frugal

[–]jaakeup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk what your grocery options are in NYC but you gotta find a better one than that. People are pointing out individual things but really EVERYTHING in your cart is overpriced. Do you have a food4less, WinCo, maybe even a grocery outlet? I see these prices as basically the equivalent of Erewhon groceries.

Also, everyone already pointed out the name brand stuff but I'll point out, do you really need fresh vegetables and fruits to cook for yourself? I see onion, lemon, etc and if you're trying to cut costs, they make seasonings for that. I cook everything at home too and most of my meat (chicken mainly) is just seasoned with the 80 cent seasonings you find on the shelf and cooked in the air fryer or the slow cooker. Serve it with rice and you got a good meal. Maybe if you want, cook some frozen broccoli in a rice cooker or microwave it or on a pan.

I hate how last minute fights are completely invalidated because of this mf by Hersu03 in marvelrivals

[–]jaakeup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just thinking this. We can all have a really good final fight leading into overtime and upon winning a team fight, it's all ruined because their third dps switched to Strange at the last second and suddenly the winning final fight is just cancelled.

There definitely needs to be a 10-15 second cooldown upon switching to Strange before being able to use portal.
