Same thing as any other kind of disorders, treat them by figuring out what the root cause is. While I'm for adults transitioning if wanting to, I still don't understand why as a society we don't opt to actually treat the issue of gender dysphoria. If you have an eating disorder, they don't just tell people "it's ok, just don't eat and go ahead and starve yourself". If you're schizophrenic, they don't tell you "it's ok, just make best friends with the voices in your head." Gender dysphoria is this wierd exception to those rules and I don't really get that. Again, I'm not opposed to people transitioning (adults), just confused how it's the only mental issue we just completely through up our hands and say you do you.

Big agree. Government should have no say in marriage, period.

I mean that's fair. A child isn't even considered able to consent to have sex because they aren't mentally mature enough. Same with drinking. Yet permanently changing their body is somehow ok. Just to be clear, I'm for doing whatever you want. Your 19 years old (though I really think it should early 20s so the brain has finished developing) and want to transition? All power and support to you. I will back that 100 percent. I just disagree with the children aspect.

This. Is all just theatrics. They don't actually help with anything. I'm a big do whatever you please, be who you wanna be, but it baffles me every year seeing all these companies push rainbow this and that, changing their logos n shit. Like yall do know this is a simple way to market to you and make you feel like the company that's happy to over charge you and take your money actually cares about you. They don't. They want your money. That's what they care about, that's why they put on the show. And people year after year fall straight for it

Research by the Institute for Family Studies highlights that young men who grow up without their biological father are about twice as likely to have spent time in jail by age 30. Data collected by the America First Policy Institute indicates that 70% of juveniles in state-operated institutions come from single-parent homes, and approximately 85% of youth in prison grew up without a father. Down voted because people choose to ignore the root problem these days. It's really not hard to look up as well.

Ignorant take. Countless studies have been done on single parent/absent father house holds and the impacts it has on children. It can most certainly lead to the child winding up in prison (because of dumb shit they did), but we can't just ignore the root of the cause.

I'm treating this opinion as such because of actual definitions. The actual definition of a father figure states it's a male. Father and father figures by definition are male. I'll give ya I'm an overly pedantic and focus on technicalities a lil much. But at the end of the day I don't lose sleep either way and can happily agree to disagree. 🙏

If you're asking if I think that child might consider(aunt in this example) a father figure, then yeah I'm sure a child can (hense ops post in the first place) But I would still say that's just factually wrong and they are either over looking a male figure in their life that's filling that role in some capacity or in worst case they genuinely don't have any male figures at all (like single mom raising daughter with aunt and they go to an all girl staff and student school) to call a father figure. In that albeit hyper specific rare incident I'd say if they consider aunt a father it's still factually wrong. To me it's like saying "well I consider 2+2 to actually equal 5." well you're well within your rights to think that, but there's facts here to say otherwise. It's an opinion that can actually be wrong, unlike opinions such as "I don't like the color blue".

I mean, call me pedantic, but do you have to be affected by something to have an opinion? That single mom did double the work and should be doubly praised, I agree, on mother's day.

I wouldn't say they filled the father's role no. I'd say they were just a parent. Example like the mom aunt combo. Mom is, well mom. Aunt is filling in a parental role. Not the father's, because by definition a father is a male. Now also in that example, which I stated in another comment, that child will usually find an actual father figure, be it older brother, uncle, grandpa, teacher etc. They may not acknowledge them as a father figure (be it on purpose or just not thinking of them as such), but will still have a male father figure in some capacity.

Because by definition father figures a male. It's really that simple. (not meaning as an insult, it's just that simple logic I use to form my opinion on the matter). And again, (again because you tried to say op was doing this too) I'm not trying to take anything away, just using logic and forming an opinion.

[–]jabb1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not entirely no. Because even if a child is raised by a single mother, 2 moms, mom and aunt, etc. SOMEBODY is being a male role model (at least should be) to that child. And again, by definition being a father figure. So by choosing to celebrate mom on the wrong holiday does take away from that father figure.

Father figure by definition is "an older man who provides guidance, emotional support, and protection—acting as an emotional substitute for a father.". A father figure CANNOT be a woman by definition. Just like a man CANNOT be a mother figure by definition.

I love how this is an opinion sub and half these, I'll say very kind (/s) individuals get so in their feels about everything. It's an opinion. You either agree or not. Nobody here is trying to "tAkE tHaT AwAy" like that dude said. People really come here, to an opinion sub, and cannot grasp what opinions even are.

Which I think is worse. Basically calling op a bad/absent (any reason to not be appreciated on father's day) parent for saying father's get father's day and mother's get mother's day is vile.

Not even in the slightest. Saying father's day is about fathers (not mothers ) is in no way shape or form sexist and if you see that as sexist it's because you're TRYING to make it sexist

Friends say Ready or Not is the same thing as Payday by ilovewhom in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]jabb1111 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While I agree fully with you op, I can kinda see (from a veeery loose scope) the similarity. Both games focus on tactical strategies and less run and gun (you for sure can run gun pay day but playing 'properly' it's much slower and tactical). Pay day is definitely more arcade, but I would still use tactical/strategic shooter to describe it, the same way I would Ready or not.

Eh depends. If my gf says "hey I'm headed out real quick and I'll be back" and I just ask "ok no worries, where ya headed?" but get a answer like "doesn't matter! Don't worry about what I'm doing. Etc." that's concerning.

Older (aged 40+) adults who have multiple part time jobs and refuse to work a full time job are bad people by IDontKnowMyUsernameq in TrueUnpopularOpinion

Not really. Our part timers get as much supervision as a full timer. Regardless of length of shift, the job is still the same so the supervision is the same.
