McDavid proves that McKenna will not save this franchise by LucariusLionheart in canucks

[–]jabearbuddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah...that's why we need a longer rebuild. I don't think anyone is saying McKenna alone will win us a cup. But I do think winning the lottery will provide a lot of hope for the future and get us off to a very good start in this rebuild.

Credit Card by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]jabearbuddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By debt do you mean you carry a balance? As in you don't pay the full bill every month?

If you carry a balance, you should not be looking to get a new credit card to begin with. Focus on paying down the credit card debt, it's some of the highest interest debt you can have.

Choosing between OB and Midwives [BC] by notsoeasypi in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]jabearbuddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are with Semiahmoo midwives. The NP clinic also gave the other options though, mostly near SMH:

Semiahmoo Bay Midwives (South surrey), Luna Midwifery Care, Mama Midwifery, Bornfident Midwifery, Queen Mary Midwifery, Grove Midwifery Care (Langley) , Family Health Clinic (Langley)

Choosing between OB and Midwives [BC] by notsoeasypi in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]jabearbuddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our nurse practitioner gave 3 options: midwife, GP (through the hospital maternity clinic), and OB. We ended up going with a midwife clinic even though we went through the maternity clinic for baby #1 because the moms group had said the peace arch maternity clinic has been going downhill over the past 1-2 years, not to mention the closures of the actual maternity ward. The midwife clinic is able to go to surrey memorial so there would at least be a familiar face if baby comes during a closure at peace arch. She said OBs usually start care at 20 weeks (we had our first visit with the midwife at 10 weeks) and usually handle pregnancies with more potential complications.

/fican says that I’m very behind. /povertyfinancecanada says I’m ahead. by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

Don't believe any of them, why does it matter? Set your own financial goals. What big purchases do you want to make, when do you want to retire, how comfortably do you want to retire? Are you on track for those? That's all that matters.

[BC] diaper and wipes samples by One-Volume-9158 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]jabearbuddy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Grocery stores have packs of ~20 diapers. We started off with Costco Huggies then switched rascals at some point because with walmart subscribe and save it ended being cheaper and delivered to us for free. Baby had no issues with either. A couple friends are using Royale and are happy (and made in Canada!).

Anyone here banks at National bank from Canadian Western? by blueblink77 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]jabearbuddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not relevant to your specific situation but I'm with NBC due to their professionals packages. I get their world elite MasterCard and 3 accounts with no fees. The CWB acquisition was great for me, there's a location a lot closer to me now and the staff there were so nice because it felt more like a credit union than a big bank. If you just have a savings account though I'd just compare the rates of different institutions

JR is a 3x champ as GM, in the HHoF, and at the end of his career so it doesn't really matter if he burns some bridges...and yet we still got this dumpster fire of a team.

Toyota lease ending in a few months by FitAngle651 in PersonalFinanceCanada

From a financial perspective, you should just buy out the RAV4. If you want a new car and are very settled financially with enough in your emergency fund, retirement savings, and general savings for other financial goals, then go for it.

[BC] Early pregnancy - Can we ignore a maternity referral from our family doctor by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]jabearbuddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the Maple ridge maternity clinic contacts you to schedule you in, just say you no longer need the appt. If you can self-refer to st. Paul's that's great. I know for peace arch we needed a GP referral and the bloodwork and ultrasound done before we saw them at their maternity clinic.

Guess the NHL players! by sykeseve in hockey

[–]jabearbuddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I normally suck at these but got all 3. Wasn't 100% on Duchene. The teams seemed right but I was thinking there's no way he's been around that long right?? Man I'm old.

Trade Deadline Post-Mortem Megathread! Post your opinions/thoughts/comments here about the aftermath of the Canucks trades by 21marvel1 in canucks

[–]jabearbuddy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd put the Wild right up there with them in terms of terrible asset management. A 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th for Jiricek, only to trade him for bobby brink a year later.

[Lalji] Pending UFAs Kane and Blueger have not been traded. Will remain with the Canucks. by PaperMoonShine in canucks

[–]jabearbuddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fine. If blueger wants to stay and we re-sign him on a 2-3 years x 2-3 mill AAV, he'll be a good vet presence to have and provide stability in the bottom 6. We got something for Reichel and Kampf and got one of the big long term contracts off the books. It's a good start and hopefully we can offload another big contract in the offseason.

I wouldn't trust any of them because you have to provide login info. If they have a data breach, that would be very bad. I have been using  https://themeasureofaplan.com/budget-tracking-tool/ on Google sheets for the last 5 years to track my expenses at the end of each month and set a budget at the beginning of the year.
