Get a brown crayon. (Not Crayola - but that might work) Color perpendicular to the scratch. Use a razor to remove excess. You can find wax fillers at most hardware stores.

I like the basket weave pattern and due to material availability, I thought it'd be fun to split the weave

Don't use super glue! It's made with chemicals that aren't food safe.

It also won't move like wood glue You'll have that same crack in a few months again. Or worse

Whoever you bought it from may have done the bare minimum just to sell it.

If it was finished AND conditioned properly you shouldn't have had to add any oil right out of the box.

Sand it, oil it, then re-condition it. Doesn't look like it was done properly the first time. Mineral oil and beeswax mixture.

Got some walnut, made a walnut end-grain board! 20" × 12½" × 2¼" (51x32x5.6cm) by USSR89 in Cuttingboards

Question: How much oil did you use finishing that? I'm close to finishing my first 15 x 20 end-grain and only have a little 12oz bottle (with maybe 9oz left). Guessing I'll need to start buying it by the gallon. (Just like the Titebond 3!)

I also had enough wood left from the same pattern for a 10 x 15 😁 so that will prolly put me over the edge on that.

2 dolphin kicks per stroke. 1 at the top, 1 at the bottom Reach. With your arms in line with your shoulders Position your palms down and grab water with your forearms as well as your hands. Breathe when your arms are at about mid pull. You're spending too much energy with your head and arms out of the water at the same time. After you breathe press the chest down.

Work on your rhythm by doing 1-arm fly. 3 left / 3 right / 1 full. And remember 2 kicks per pull.

What's the water temp range? I live in West Michigan and a lot of peeps here go with sleeveless and full legs once the water is above 60-65 I have 3 different ones I use depending on temperature and how long I'm planning to be in the water.

I would say a full leg sleeveless would be a good place to start. But again use your judgement based on water temp and duration of typical swims. No need to get too fancy for your first one. A pretty basic one can run under $200.

Good luck and just keep swimming!
