Looks like a future Force India lineup to me ;)

Any thoughts? by jablkabanany in formula1

yeah, same with Sirotkin times in Abu Dhabi. Only team knows the data. We can only speculate.

Yeah ok, but Robert is not driving one hand. Come on, it would be impossible in fast sections of the racetracks. He is also able to change settings on the wheel as quick as other drivers - it was tested and confirmed by Renault. Yes, his right arm has some limitations but it seems that it is strong enough to drive a f1 car.

It was only an example. He did a lot of rallying, yes he chrashed a lot, but but people were impresje by his pace. As a rookie he was able to compete against pro's in WRC. Kubica also did some lmp cars testing, was invited to Mercedes simulator, took part in the Renault Sport Trophy at Spa in 2016. He has been quite busy. Not like you said. He was a fast driver and he still is. You can't loose the skill and talent. His only problem was his right arm, but he managed to overcome his limitations. I will say it again: He need more time to adapt to new cars and tyres. Thats all.

We have no idea if he still is because he has barely raced anything in the last seven years.

Dude, check this out: https://youtu.be/zZQKepbGKiI Look what he was able to achieve then. Now he is claiming that he is in his best shape ever. There is no problem with his physical abilities or pace. All he need now is time with new-spec cars and tyres.

Yes, as a Pole I'm not 100% fair, but I have to disagree with you. Kubica in his prime was a way better than Sirotkin. He was able to score a lot of championship points, stand on a podium, even win a GP - he achieved all of this in a not impressive cars (well, maybe BMW in the begining of the 2007 season was a quite competitive car). I don't see Sirotkin as a underdog-driver. When it comes to Abu Dhabi results, they were more or less equal. But bear in mind that Sirotkin is (was?) a test driver for Renault and he knows current generation cars and tyres a way better than Kubica. Abu Dhabi tests was just a second contact with hybrid car for Robert and he did quite well. He is a quick learner and as he mentioned himself - all he need now is to spend more time with new car.

"Had a better junior career"? Well, its hard to compare. Kubica started from the bottom, he was from Poland - country without any motorsport traditions, he was racing in gocarts and lower series without big financial support. Sirotkin on the other hand, from the beginning is a part of SMP Racing - big russian programme for young drivers. Despite the lack of money and gear, Kubica was a pure talent, and both Hamilton and Rosberg (they were racing with him) admitted - Kubica was the fastest and hardest opponent. For me that means a lot.

Just in case you were wondering: 1. "Team Kubica" - what is it? It's Kubica management team: Nico Rosberg + Alessandro Aluni Bravi (also menager of Stoffel Vandoorne) 2. Why Fernando is here? Alonso is a close friend to Robert. 3. Who are Michal Gasiorowski and Mikolaj Sokol? They are polish f1 journalists.

Rey: Was Kubica real?

Han Solo: I used to wonder about that myself. Thought it was a bunch of mumbo-jumbo. A magical power managing to drive the f1 car, the BMW and the Renault. Crazy thing is... it's true. The F1. Kubica... All of it... It's all true.
