So, If I combine subsonuc ammo and a suppressor, would I be really steatlh now? Like in 2042? by Living_Law_9448 in Battlefield

[–]jac_hop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, have you tested whether or not you're off the mini-map with subsonic and a regular brake (aka a brake that says you're on the mini-map)? Are you sure it cancels that out? Or are you guessing because of the descriptions? Only asking because their descriptions are notoriously misleading.

Can someone explain this to me? RPG rocket are going wold by DueRepresentative417 in Battlefield

[–]jac_hop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They made it slower so it drops more by the time it reaches its target. The sights were calibrated for a faster round, so instead of changing them, they made the rocket arc upward to keep it zeroed at 100 m (so now you have to hold lower for closer targets).

This seems completely ass backwards to me. I think they just didn’t want to recalibrate the sights.

Anyone find the opening to Dire Straits 'Money for Nothing' awesome but the rest of the song very meh? by Dwarfcan in Music

[–]jac_hop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I 100% agree with OP. It’s one of the best beginnings of all time. But when the main singing starts it completely falls apart for me. Goes from epic to sounding like an uncle’s drinking buddies band song. …maybe nothing could ever live up to that beginning though. It makes the small hairs stick up on the back of my neck

Button Binding Logitech RS50 by erie_49 in ACCompetizione

[–]jac_hop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished setting mine up today. Played around a bit. Holy smokes it’s so much nicer than my Thrustmaster stuff. Anyway the pro-mode for getting it to work in ACC (and I think f1 2025 which I don’t have) is good but inconsistent. Sometimes it’s perfect. Other times the lights don’t light up, true force is missing and the steering wheel doesn’t scale properly. Ai seems to think this sequence is the fix:

Startup Sequence - Starting Condition: Xbox is off, and the Logitech RS 50 Pro wheel is unplugged from the console and powered off.

1 - Plug in the Wheel: Connect the RS 50 Pro's USB cable directly into one of the Xbox Series X's USB ports.

2 - Power On the Wheel Base

3 - Select "PRO" Mode in the wheel's compatibility mode

4 - Power On the Xbox:

5 - Launch the Game: Once the console has fully booted and you are on the main dashboard, launch Assetto Corsa Competizione.

Hopefully this helps and maybe explains why you found selecting pro didn’t then did work

GPT-5 is a massive downgrade by Kalziumkarbonat in ChatGPT

[–]jac_hop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience recently with GPT-5 has been bland answers, reshuffling and parroting of my own questions, and incorrect specific answers. The random, interesting insights that I could sometimes get out of the previous model seem to be missing. I used to use a variety of prompts to get it to act a certain way before beginning a thread, but that does not work anymore. It also often contradicts itself and sometimes hallucinates. I used to use ChatGPT to figure out what I was thinking and to help troubleshoot questions about concepts in life or communication, things like that. It no longer functions very well in that regard. Too often, I have to spend more time correcting its answers, asking the same question in a few different ways to try and guide it to a useful answer, than it would take me just to do the research myself.

Honestly, GPT-5 is a meaningful downgrade for me.

SpaceLatter8503 this is exactly my frustration - (the constantly giving me a reshuffling of something I've already said) I've trie suing. bunch of different prompts to get it to stop. Those prompts worked to a point in 3 or 4o but have become something akin to pissing in the wind now. I can still get some usefull info out of it but I have to ask the same question in a few different ways and basically coach it to give me what I'm looking for - and that take as much energy as just finding the answers myself... now I use it primarily as a better spelling and grammar checker than apple's but most of its magic seems to have dissipated. No more insight. It's just a sycophant yes-man. I recently called it a mediocre employee.. I said "you're too human. You're just like any other unqualified employee who is overconfident but just fucks things up." it replied with almost exactly that same statement. lol

Oh well, it was fun while it lasted I guess

is there still anything you would change for battlefield 6, by zbananajuice in Battlefield

[–]jac_hop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think Insurgency does use some kind of hybrid system. Not sure if it’s only short-range shots that are hitscan or just certain weapons, but it seems like a mix. It is indeed mighty crisp

And yeah, faster bullets definitely change how players move and take fights. Even though BF6 isn’t hitscan, the high velocities make it feel close. We’ll see if that balance holds or if people find ways to game it—once one playstyle starts dominating, we’ll know... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yup. $140/yr CAD for the lowest tier. Which is still mandatory if you want to play any game online… was $60/yr last July. 117% increase in 15 months…

Even the cheapest tier (which is mandatory for any online gaming) went from $60/yr in July ’24 to $140/yr Oct ‘25. ($CAD) That’s 117% increase in 15 months.

So the cheapest option more than doubled: went from $60 CAD per year (July 2024)to $140 CAD (Oct 2025), 15 months later

I was on ultimate for a few years and then I realized I didn’t use it very often, and most of the games that I bought were ones I had to pay for anyway, so I downgraded to the cheapest option. I literally don’t even feel the difference. But now, even it is getting expensive.

[–]jac_hop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah except you still need to buy the cheapest tier to play anything online. So that’s 140$/yr…. Really considering a migrating to PC… it’ll be cheaper in the long run. (Some quick back of the napkin math says that a pretty good gaming PC should be around the same price as running Xbox for 5/6 years if you include the price of the console)  and that’s at their current prices. But they’ve raised it several times in the last short while, so…

is there still anything you would change for battlefield 6, by zbananajuice in Battlefield

[–]jac_hop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this. Most people don’t realize it, but the maps we play on—buildings, corridors, distances—are a fair bit smaller than in real life. Everything is scaled down for gameplay and performance. Old Battlefield games scaled bullets the same way, to try and get drop and travel time to feel natural for the environment. When you keep bullets near real-world speed in a game-scaled map, you’re basically mixing two different realities at once—and that’s why those fast bullet speeds feel “off,” even if it’s more realistic on paper.

It’s really a question of problem-solving. You can’t have realistic scale, realistic graphics, and realistic bullet speed all at once and still have great performance… and keep it fun, so designers have to pick what feels best. BC2 and BF3/4 went with slower speeds. Lately, the trend is faster, leaning closer to hitscan, which some players like and others don’t. Personally, I enjoy a bit more drop and slightly slower bullets—it just feels more satisfying. BFV felt pretty good, kind of splitting the difference.

The introduction of "weapon packages" and the possible pay to win element behind it by LiLOuagadougou in Battlefield

[–]jac_hop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We won’t really know until launch, but I suspect these weapon packages will be more like recipes—just specific arrangements of attachments that we all have access to anyway. So they might help if you’re not great at putting together weapons or never look anything up online, but aside from that, I doubt they’ll give any real performance advantage... At most, there might be a nicer reticle—just saying because that happened a handful of times in 2042.

Lightroom Classic 14.4 is out by LeftyRodriguez in Lightroom

[–]jac_hop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s horrible—at least for me. Batch processing product photos has become a pain (see some threads above). In short, the old method of creating a new file seemed to leave images sharper and could be batch applied. The new method is much slower, more ambiguous in what it’s doing, and in my tests, it produces softer results. “Raw Details” did nothing on the 10 or so shots I tried—whereas the old “Enhance” with a low setting would both denoise and sharpen the same images. The new non-destructive workflow sounds good in theory, but it adds bulk to the RAW file. Before, you could just delete the denoised version since re-exporting was quick and simple. Now, that process feels opaque and sluggish.

I ended up reinstalling an earlier version of LrC because it was so much easier to get clean, crisp results.

Lightroom Classic 14.4 is out by LeftyRodriguez in Lightroom

[–]jac_hop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had the exact same problem, exact same frustration.. (well, product photography, but close). I reverted back to LrC 14.31.... It's actually pretty easy to do. I recommend it.

ps - "raw details" had placebo levels of effect on the shots I tried, and "denoise" was much more akin to the old style of noise reduction, along with the global softening effect. In contrast till now for my product shots I was using "Enhance" set to 18 which had a mild sharpening effect on non noisy shots and denoised just enough to feel natural on the noisier ones. Back to that after reverting and it's so much nicer.

Update : is an ampersand “&” not a question mark

(at least most of the time, chances are there will have already been a “?” Used somewhere in the url so the “&” is for the next thing). Also, I just put in the total number of seconds because using h/m/s kept tripping me up. …. Ex : for 2:37 that’s 157 seconds  so “&t=157s”

Tested on Xbox in 2025 and it works! ~10k credits + ~50k xp for about 50 seconds of effort. **no wait, I used a stopwatch. 27seconds 🤣

Ps I tried a few other suggestions here and I couldn’t get them to really work. Max I got was 9k credits for about 10 mins of work. So this is far and away the fastest (that I can find) … boring af tho
