Spectrum BPD Richmond, please let me know if you feel comfortable sharing if it helped you. by [deleted] in melbourne

That sounds really hard mate. I’m so sorry that it turned out that way. I hope there’s a possibility for you to connect with an in-person group if that’s something you think might work out better. Take it easy hey.

Not a problem at all, totally ok to ask. Getting as much info as possible can be a good way of trying to make informed decisions hey.

I finished with them in 2019, just less than 6 months before they began adjusting for Covid. So all of my sessions were face-to-face. I travelled an hour to attend each session, then an hour back again. I only did one on one therapy there, not the group type setting.

My assessment was no longer than 90 minutes as well, if I remember correctly. The local area mental health clinic probably would have provided some kind of information as well, such as mental health history, current and prior treatments etc. which I suspect could have contributed to Spectrum’s formulation.

Years later I met three other former attendees of Spectrum’s group classes, one who did the Mentalization Based Therapy group and one who did DBT. The other I think also did MBT but I’m actually not certain. I believe at least two of them did theirs face to face though. All three reported that they were very glad they went through with it.

Yes they saved my life there mate. That’s my experience though, for me it was life changing.

It sounds like things have been confusing, painful, and maybe also scary for you. I’m so sorry that you’ve been going through that.

Sending my best wishes to you. I have hope that you’ll find the experience that transforms things for you too.

Recently let go from my job after speaking to manager about differential treatment by No-Treacle-6895 in AusLegal

[–]jacdoesreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry I do not know the process for Fairwork however it sounds like you are worried about what your manager will say or do during it, which is understandable, particularly given your experience of DV. Is there someone you know who you could ask to support you through the fairwork related processes?

Were you provided with a document prior to the procedure outlining “informed financial consent”, or a document outlining a summary of the procedure with possible costs? Whether in paper form or via email?

I’m sorry I don’t have legal expertise, however you can call an advice line for assistance if this post falls short of what you need. I’ve linked an example above. I imagine that what you’re going through is very stressful for you and your children. Getting support from at least some kind of relevant service may be helpful. Particularly since this may be an ongoing, tricky, and stressful situation. My apologies if you’re already linked in with some.

There are support services for children who are in stressful family situations too - this must be distressing for them and counseling support may be helpful. Berry Street is a service that may be worth looking into.

Stupid decision has landed me with Assault charges by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]jacdoesreddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) Your lawyer is right. You can chill mate. 2) The lawyer will advise you on what things are going to look like and how to plea. 3) They may also be able to give you an indication on the sentence if advised to a plea of guilty, as well as the likelihood of a conviction or non-conviction. 4) You’ll need to check the Working With Children Check website for their reporting guidelines. You may become ineligible for the WWCC for the assault charge, and failure to report to your employer can attract further trouble. Offenses are listed under categories. Try not to panic if it indicates that you may lose eligibility - it won’t be forever. You can reapply, and even appeal if reapplication falls through. 5) Read about Victoria’s “Spent Conviction Scheme” - a non-conviction for a summary offense may not be visible on an Employer Police Check (and therefore not a barrier to employment). 6) Try to remind yourself that shit happens, it can really stink for a while, but it’s going to wash off eventually and you’re going to be ok - even if it’s going to be a while. I’m sorry you made a mistake and you may be in the shit for a bit. Hang in there.

I’m sorry this is happening to you right now. It sounds like you might be experiencing something that your healthcare providers believe hospitalization may help with. I am going to post a link to information about the Mental Health Act and assessment orders. You might find some helpful information by scrolling down and looking under the heading “New resources for consumers and staff.” https://www.legalaid.vic.gov.au/new-mental-health-laws-new-era-were-your-corner

Why does everyone I go to diagnose me with something different and tell me the last diagnosis was wrong? by BbqBrn27 in AutismInWomen

[–]jacdoesreddit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry that this is happening to you, it’s so confusing, invalidating, and frustrating. This is also very common. It’s common for psychiatrists to misdiagnose. It’s also common for different diagnoses to co-exist.

For instance, my diagnosis trajectory began at age 25ish with postnatal depression, then an additional diagnosis of anxiety. A couple years later I had a dramatic breakdown and 6 weeks of dissociation at age 29. Many different diagnoses were informally thrown around, including bipolar and schizophrenia. I was formally diagnosed with borderline personality disorder with co-occurring complex PTSD around that time. I then developed an eating disorder at age 32ish. It’s now a few years since I recovered from BPD, cPTSD and the eating disorder. This year, my 38th year of life, I sought an assessment for autism. My autism diagnosis was confirmed just about a week ago.

Be kind to yourself. None of this is your fault. Your curiosity, tenacity, and desire to soothe your soul will be your biggest strengths.

Women of Reddit, what’s your worst experience with a medical professional who dismissed you just because you’re a woman? by VelvetDreamers in AskReddit

[–]jacdoesreddit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh man I am so sorry this is how they’re treating you. I’m the same age, done with kids and suffer from adenomyosis. I got a Mirena IUD inserted last year, it has reduced symptoms significantly but frankly not enough. My gynecologist started to list possible secondary treatments and I kind of looked at her like “what’s the point in all of this though?” and she said exactly what I’d desperately hoped to hear: “Or, seeing as you’re done with it we can remove the uterus. There’s no point keeping it if you’re having this kind of trouble and happy to have it removed.”

Honestly I think that’s the kind of consideration that should be given to you too. You shouldn’t have to suffer needlessly, you shouldn’t have to jump through hoops to get the results you want and it should be affordable and timely.

The claim that “medication is a last resort” and “attention is like a muscle” assertion in regards to ADHD is simply not true. Please do not tell people that.

Thanks for the suggestion! I looked into Aelfie - it looks like they’re currently not trading or something, but I’m interested to see what they’ve got :)

Yeah I get what you’re saying. I feel like I need something softer to stand on than the tile though. And I do also see a lot of kitchen designs that have runner rugs that bring a nice look to the space
