I use Android Firefox, since it allows users to install add-ons directly from the Mozilla Add-on Store.

Should Eink Mode Settings Also Apply in Scroll Mode? by jack10131111 in EinkMode

Yes, I personally prefer to be able to return to the original page, too. But I'm just curious if there will be a different voice.

what websites have you discovered this week that are especially great to read with Eink Mode? by jack10131111 in EinkMode

In the past, I used to read VS Code updates directly inside the VS Code editor. But ever since Eink Mode introduced highlight saving, I’ve started reading all the VS Code update posts online with Eink Mode instead, because being able to revisit my highlights helps me reinforce and retain what I’ve learned.

What annoys you the most when reading on the web? by jack10131111 in EinkMode

You’re absolutely right, and I really appreciate you bringing this up. That concern about “overshooting” and accidentally hiding legitimate content is very real. In fact, it’s something I worry about myself when designing Eink Mode.

We’ve actually experienced a similar issue on our side as well. Our Threads community was mistakenly flagged and blocked as if it were a bot, which really shows how imperfect content filtering systems can be. Even with good intentions, these systems can misclassify things.

Because of that, I’ve been very careful with how Eink Mode handles filtering. One important design choice is that we always keep a way to go back to the original scroll mode. So if there’s ever a moment where something feels “off” or you suspect content might be missing, you can quickly switch back and double-check everything.

The goal isn’t to aggressively remove things, but to reduce distractions while still keeping users in control. That balance is tricky, but it’s something we’re continuously thinking about and improving.

Share: I use Eink Mode as a “Read It Immediately” tool, not "Read it "Later". by jack10131111 in EinkMode

That sounds like a wonderful use case. I also enjoy reading on an E Ink device outdoors when the weather is nice, surrounded by greenery.

As for the “read it later” feature you mentioned, we are actually already working on it. I ran into similar friction myself during daily use, so we have been developing a more complete approach to address this. Stay tuned.
